wood briquets vs. standard cord wood?

A face cord is 1/3rd the volume of a full cord.

How much is a pallet? I have never heard the term face cord either,

It was about $210 IIRC. I paid extra for delivery since I was farm truck-less at the time.

Most split wood I was able to find that was worth getting was in the $175 per cord area and for the extra convenience I opted for the bricks. If I had a good firewood connection that was local it would be worth the hassle but alas.....

That's a good price, 2000 lbs of compressed sawdust bricks runs at least $300.00 here.

Stay away from Aarons hardwood, He burned me for 3/4 of a cord.

It's kind of funny but around where I'm from if you asked for a rick of firewood people would give you blank look. Anyways they sell these bricks on a pallet (1 ton) 576 bricks on a pallet with plastic wrapping around pallet, than plastic wrapped in bundles of 3 for $260. If they indeed burn and give off the same amount of heat as a regular average 16" piece of firewood than it is cost effective for me to go this route. The wood is all compressed hardwood. For the extra few dollars it seems the convenience of the smaller size and ease of use might be worth it as long as the stuff can heat adequately and isn't go-pher wood.

There is a guy out by you on Grafton rd that sells for 50 bucks a truck bed full but he is flaky.

One other thing worth mentioning is that even if plastic wrapped I wouldn't store the compressed bricks outside. Once they get wet they are just a pile of sawdust.

Thanks. I know a guy on Rt. 82 but, again, flakey. I don't need the aggravation. Unless the price skyrockets I'm sticking with the bricks.

It's a rediculous meade up measure originally by scammers short changing customers. Seems to be mostly back east. They are very stubborn about sticking to it rather than going with cords or fractions thereof. I guess it is just too logical to use an industry standard rather then a local version of a nebulous amount. The Weights and Measurs poeple love it when someone blows the whistleon a dealer doing it. Unfortunately, too few people 'blow the whistle".
