Gas prices again, What's the price in your area for unleaded? What's happening?

I can't figure what's going on. Our Civic needed a fill up Dec 6th. We had to go to Booneville, MS, about 20 miles north of the house. Gas was about $3.23/gallon. I passed, went the next day to Fulton, about 15 miles south of the house and filled up for $3/gallon. Went back yesterday to Booneville, prices the same, went to Fulton today to top off and it was down to $2.89.

The local price difference of about 24 to 34 cents a gallon is unusual.
Do you see disparities like this in your area?
And - How low will it go?
Will I get to record $1.99 again in my log book?

Will diesel come down to $3 ?

Diesel here $3.99, gas $3.49 . I don't know why there isn't more of an outcry about that. Even fuel oil is more than gas. Sounds like time for a class action suit against big oil ! If you got it a truck brought it, hi diesel prices will drive up the price of everthing, especially the quarterly proffits at Exxon !

In Bedford VA we are just under $3.00 - but go 30 miles in any direction it could go up $0.15.. Come next week we may be higher than the other places - it seems to swap week by week

That’s a billion dollar question, the same can be asked of the stock market. Product, supply and demand seem to have a marginal input on the value of a product or business. Our company posted higher profits every quarter this year and the stock dropped every time we went public with quarterly earnings. Sure today’s market is much more sophisticated and accessible then before but I personally think pure speculation and profit taking is driving this bus. Make me extremely nervous about our 401k which I can’t touch for several years.

Back to your post, Diesel used to be about the same price as Premium gasoline, now it is 30 to 50 cents more. What the heck is that all about?

Low in my area is $3.09. The Shell station Just off I-5 freeway is $3.99 across the street it is $3.25. All the Shell stations are higher than the rest.

Gas is $1.28 liter diesel is $1.25.

I dont know what exactly what the price is in gallons, but like Mike R just North of the International border, gas is right around $1.30/L and for quite a while its been at $1.29. I know its over $4.00/gallon, probably closer to $5.00/gallon though. Gas is expensive up here, especially driving trucks.

In Oakland Md today 3.45 gal in WV 3.45-3.65 hopefully since students have gone home the price gouging will end... We are always getting ripped in WVU country because of the students... You can drive to the N or Eastern panhandle there was always at least 15-25 cents cheaper than around Morgantown. This would be at Sheetz or what ever the name of the company but always a rip off in surrounding area of WVU.

As to the stock market: Recently YUM (NYSE) announced revenue growth of 10%. The street was expecting 14%. The stock got knocked down 10% in 1 day!!! Investing seems more like a casino. And the house always wins....
