Background details: My family and I were putzing around on our property (vacant) a couple of weeks ago and came across a couple of dead deer. One was a 1 1/2 year old 4-pt and the other a doe that looked to have been born this year. They were both pretty torn up by coyotes and other wildlife but the head on the buck still looked ok. My neighbor shot a spike last year, boiled the head, died the skull to make it whiter and mounted it on a nice piece of wood. It turned out to look quite nice and I was thinking he may like another buck to mount..... So I threw a tow strap around the neck of the deer and pulled it up behind my barn with the Gator.
I got to thinking that the coyotes may drag off the body so I tied a rope around its neck and to a tree where I hung a trail camera to catch pics of the coyotes. Now to the funny part.
My neighbor called me earlier this week and said that he needed to tell me something that had happened that day. He said that a woman was walking her two dogs down the road and flagged him down asking him if he is the one who owns the 80 acres "over there." He informed her that he was not the owner but knows the owners very well and asked her why she was asking. She said that she was just walking her dogs on my property (trespassing) and came across something that she was VERY concerned about! By this time I knew exactly what she was referring to and was laughing too hard to make out what he said but one can only imagine the untold horrors this woman believed me to have committed on this poor deer!! :shocked::shocked::laughing::laughing::laughing: I wish my trail cam had pictures of the look on her face when she first considered what I had done to this deer! Well, being the funny guy that I am my next move was to go look for that other deer after I finished hunting that night. I couldn't find it but you all may enjoy knowing that my plan was to drag that deer up near the other one and tie a plastic bag around its head and a little sign that read, (in small print)," If you can read this..... you are definitely trespassing."
I'm still laughing about her thinking about what type of sadistic individual I am that ties a deer to a tree like that!

BTW, immediately after moving the deer I had e-mailed our local DNR wildlife biologist asking her if she wanted to come get tissue samples from the deer so I don't think there's a way that anyone in a position of authority could believe anything other than the truth.
