I am no stranger to pulling heavy loads. So you are stating that this vehicle was in low range with the motor turning 5000 rpm with no movement, **** the tires should have been SMOKIN! UNLESS the trans was slipping...

Tires were not spinning. Its a rough finish grooved concrete ramp. Only way you will spin any vehicle's tires is if you get them wet on the moss.

I have seen the same thing happen to a Ford F350 diesel but in that case the truck started hopping.

In both cases the trucks were overloaded but the F350 was about 8,000# over when the gas GM was about 3,000#

You give a ton of anti-GM rants, but I'm having a really tough time even coming close to buying this one...Sometimes you just go too far...My truck would have gone up in a 4x4 tire smoke storm. Limitation being weight of the truck vs the weight of what is being pulled on wet pavement...Period..

Give it a break, it's getting old if you haven't noticed by now.

I agree, not buying this for one minute. I think Chris's hatred for GM has hit a new high on this one. In his world ANYTHING Ford is fantastic, if it says GM on it, it is total junk.

I have a tough time when he starts quoting Eco fuel mileage numbers too. I base this on a couple of bud's with this engine, they certainly do not get what he talks about. They do like the engine, just do not get the numbers he quotes.

Too bad because on most other subjects he is pretty knowledgeable.

I think he's pretty knowledgable about some things, but those some things are beginning to diminish due to the obvious bias and hostile attitude that he has towards anything not Ford/BMW/Nissan.

He might be the ultimate alpha guy towing 450,000,000,000,0000 tons per month (he does remind us daily)...I don't care. For someone who does what he says, he sure does spend an inordinate amout of time on this board...Can't figure out how he does it all...Very impressive.

If his Fords/Nissans/BMW's are the divine second coming, he can believe it...I don't, I've had enough experience with all three to know better.

There were loose anti-GM biases before, now it it so blatent that I can't take it anymore...What ever good he has to say has been destroyed in my book now...And I don't want to hear anymore about the "balilout"...Ford's hands aren't clean either...Just low hanging fuit...Nothing more, nothing less.

Time for my own rant...Just sayin'

Hey now watch those Nissan comments! I have an Infiniti which gets 57 mpg, changes it's own oil without ever spilling a dop, tows up tall mountains 1,000's more than it is rated for and..............................

Like I said, it would not move it. This was somewhere around 2005 using a 2003 2500 HD 6.0 4x4. It simply could not get the wheels turning. Like someone earlier mentioned it could not get the torque converter to fo its thing. I clearly stated we were knowingly 3, 000# overweight but were surprised when it was a issue.

Towing up a hill rolling is nothing compared to moving a big load from a dead stop on a incline like that. Every summer I see drive shafts break, trucks go backwards into the water, tires smoke, ect. Getting a large boat out is a art. Its still floating till aprox 2/3 rds out. This causes a major weight transfer issue. I am not talking your little 18' bass boats here. What I am dealing with are boats 15, 000# to 25, 000# 30' to 40' in length sitting on 3 & 4 axle trailer with beams from 10.5' to 13' wide.
