I looked at that chart in 2011 Ram only sold 244,763 trucks.

Something else interesting is Ford quit selling the Ranger because sales were down but they sold 70,832 Rangers and Chevy only sold 31,026 Colorados.

The million still employed is only using the data available...If true, 1,000,000 on unemployment would have significantly reduced federal tax revenue..Not shifting money around, it all goes to the same place.

60K per year*1,000,000=$60,000,000,000

$60,000,000,000*15%=$9,000,000,000 (normal effective tax rate)

$9,000,000,000*4(years of "bailout")=$36,000,000,000.

These are round numbers and feel free to move them any way that you like...Either way, the bailout came from the treasury and income taxes and the bailout repayment goes to the same place.

Also, unemployed folks generally pay little in income taxes, in fact, many get EITC which is a governement payment...Just perspective, not a statement about anything.

Not justifying anything here, but some of the myopic anti-GM views of all of this has eliminated the bigger picture.

And yes, I'd rather the money be spent here than in some other place...At least some of it has a chance to be repaid in one fashon or another.

Alright again the bailout didn't really save the jobs.

Ok, you said it so it must be true...Please give me your facts...If you have any.

I'm basing my information on data available...Is the 1 million exaggerated?...I'm sure it is, but what is the real number?...No one knows, including you.

Can someone explain to me how every thread seems to turn into a Ford bashing thread?

Personally, I find the opposite to be true. Any thread about trucks turns into an anti bailout diatribe regardless of the merits of the vehicle being discussed. There are some here that would argue that a literal steaming turd with a blue Ford oval smushed into it was superior to a GM or Ram truck. Truthfully I see almost as much putting down of trucks based on things that have absolutely nothing to do with the merits of the design as I do thoughtful comparisons of competing features. And I don't really have a dog in the fight as I own GM and Ford trucks and am considering the 2013 Ram 3500 diesels.

I would like to think the heated discussions would be for usa or foreign trucks. Then the polite personal preferance discussion after that.

If it were not for Nissan and Toyota the big three would have never stepped their game up.

Maybe someways in cars, especially compact cars but I don't think so in trucks. I thought Toyota always tried to copy the F-150.

Please.... Chevy, Ford, and Dodge were building full-size trucks way before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The American auto companies would have kept up with American consumer demands reguardless. Does Nissan even build a fullsize truck? LOL!!

Edit: I think the big 3 set the pace in the truck market. Where's Toyota's 3/4 and 1 ton trucks?? Looks like the Japs have some catching up to do.
