2014 Silverado/Sierra released

Maybe someways in cars, especially compact cars but I don't think so in trucks. I thought Toyota always tried to copy the F-150.

Take a honest look at the Nissan Titan. In 03 when they came out they had bed steps, a real diff lock, backup camera, factory sprayed in bed liner, a 6 speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, traction control, big tow mirrors like a F350, navigation, 300 plus HP, a 9,500# tow rating, ect. All first for trucks. This a half ton that was as much truck as many 3/4 tons.

They set the bar. Toyota improved the Tundra and the big three took notice.

Please.... Chevy, Ford, and Dodge were building full-size trucks way before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The American auto companies would have kept up with American consumer demands reguardless. Does Nissan even build a fullsize truck? LOL!!

Hmmmm. Where is your rock?

In 04 Ford came out with the redesigned F150. Ford had had rear disk brakes since 1999 on a 150. It could tow 10k. Ford had used a LSD for years. The Titan made have had some more luxury stuff available but just truck to truck they weren't ahead. The Titan was a was faster truck, probably the fastest at the time. I think the low end Titan has a cheap looking interior.

Ok, you said it so it must be true...Please give me your facts...If you have any.

I'm basing my information on data available...Is the 1 million exaggerated?...I'm sure it is, but what is the real number?...No one knows, including you.

We know one thing is for sure. Chrysler has been bailed out twice with our money in one generation.

Also, lots of companies go into bankruptcy protection and still stay around just fine. The bailout was put into place to protect the union. There was no "wealth spread" there, bankruptcy courts were circumvented and deals were cut and everyone else was hatcheted. Really need to research more than what the media feeds you, 1 million jobs that is just nuts.

I don't think Rollings Farms wants to hear any government intervention on the blue oval. As long as he is happy with them its great. I tried out a new Tundra and was not impressed. The seat was not all that comfortable and the dash was all chrome coated plastic... very thrifty looking. I have owned Chevrolets in the past and still have a building full of them. I like their quality, design, and mostly their resale value. As far as I am concerned GM can sell Chevrolet rocks and get a great price for them. The only reason Ford out sells them is because GM has two truck lines and can't combine the sales numbers. Dodge has the cummins diesel.... that is the end of their selling point. If you look at the side of the half ton series it duplicates the Chevrolet design. A Silverado will definitely be my next truck ... after I wear out the present one.

I've never owned a Ford truck a day in my life, actually. I was(and still am) a diehard Chevrolet guy...prior to 2008 that is. I personally think Chevrolet makes the BEST trucks up til 2002. They went all crazy with their design in 2003, but I still owned a 2004 for 7 years and it was a solid truck. I traded it for a 2011 (despite the bailout) because I really wanted to try that 6.2 out and I couldn't cut a deal with any of the Ford dealers around where I live. I still think the 6.2 is one bad mama jama but the truck around it mine came in was pure crap. That's not to say ALL of the new GM trucks are crap, but mine was. I decided to go back to Toyota because I really enjoyed my 1995 4x4, it was tough as nails and that truck took anything I could throw at it. Hopefully my 2012 Tacoma TRD-off road 4x4 will live up to what my '95 was. We'll see, and you'll be the first to know if I have any problems. I am not afraid to bash a junk truck, even if I'm a diehard fan. For now, though, it's performing flawlessly and getting the job done. I couldn't be happier with it. In my non-biased opinion the quality difference between my 2011 Sierra and my 2012 Tacoma is night and day. Dodge will have to keep upping their quality for another 5 years and be consistent with it before I'll take a look at them. You don't make less then quality trucks for years and then change overnight, and in my opinion Dodge trucks are on the low-side quality wise. They've made huge steps in recent years, but it's gonna take more of that to make people like me take a chance on them.

I am the last person on the planet that agrees with wealth distribution/spread...Ergo, I never brought it up you did...

You keep accusing me of buying what the media is feeding and not doing any research...I've asked at least three times for your research and have received nothing but rants....

I never said I agreed with any of this..Was a good portion messed up?...Yes.

BTW, Chrysler paid back their original loan in the 80's...I'm sure they'll pay this one back too---eventually....I'd still rather my significant tax dollars be used in the US, not elsewhere.

I have nothing to do with any union or any car company...I'm just an American.

If you hate GM (as most on this thead do)...Just be honest and say so.

Speaking of "bailouts"...
ForumRunner_20121227_095614.png
I find it funny that DP (Chris) thinks Ford is "built without your tax dollars" yet OUR TAX DOLLARS funded that Department of Energy loan that created the Ecoboost and other fuel effiecient Ford engines and that loan is not even close to getting paid back. Ford owes me and other tax payers MILLIONS more than Chrysler does. Also, "bailouts" rarely get paid back but GM and Chrysler are paying back more than Ford, now who got a "bailout"...?

On topic, direct injected engines are very good but tricky to make reliable. I'm anxious what the ouput of the GM 5.3l d.i. engine will be. It should be very comparable to the Ford Ecoboost output without the need for turbos or special drivetrain tricks which is why I would go for the Ford 5.0 over the Ecoboost.

I'm not a huge fan of the redesigned GM front end but the GMC version is better looking than the Chevy IMHO.

Don't hate GM like I said I am looking forward to the new SUV.

Here is how it works, my first job out of college was as a consultant in finance and we specialized in cost reductions. The gm bailout to me is scary. It completely circumvented the law and put the bargaining power into the hands of the union and screwed everyone else.

Also, gm would have never never went out of business but it could have cut some long term liabilities and not shat where it ate ie vendors and bond holders. Now vendors and lenders will have to cost more because of economic laws that would be too involved to get into here.

I guarantee now that we will see gm go down again and look at Chrysler in the 80s. Were their products any good? Like a spoiled kid who becomes a failure.
