I recently Installed 235 x 85 x 16 E rated tires on my trailer. At the time of install, I didn't have any H P valve stems.I installed regular valve stems. Should I replace the regular valve stems with H P valve stems ? Anyone else use the H P valve stems ?

Yes. Regular stems are only rated at 50 psi I believe. You really answered your own question here.

I checked on them today. Those little buggers are $5.00 ea. Only place that has them is a local tire store. I'll pick them up in the am

No one was able to give me a psi rating for the regular valve stems

Yup, anytime I go over 60-65 psi. Unless you're not airing your tires up that high but whats the sense in buying E rated tires to de-rate their loading capacity. I'd put them in, its only a bead pop away!

Most are rated by the manf. Typically normal snap in stems are rated to 65psi. The HP stems are typically to 100PSI. Anything more is metal stem territory.

My 2500 dodge has e rated tires & has snap in HP valve stems. My trailer rims have a larger valve stem hole which has to have the bolt in type (according to the tire store) At any rate I'll pick them up in the am

I had the snap in, standard ones for years on my Dodge Cummins and other trucks with load range E tires.

Recently I got new set of tires and the shop told me I needed the high pressure stems. They fit the same hole and look stronger.

I've never had a problem, but the stronger ones seem better.

Have a 2005 Dodge 3500 SRW diesel and I had a failure of the rubber high pressure stems that were half brass and rubber 2 years ago, replaced all including the spare with all metal stems. Would not run rubber stems with D or E tires.

When running with trailer have Tire Pressure Monitoring System with 10 sensors that monitor temp and pressure installed. Have caught 2 low pressure events due to holes from screws and had indication of a pending seperation occuring by noticing tire running 15 degrees over the other tires. TPMS is well worth the money for towing long distance and the sensors take minutes to install on whatever trailer you are towing.
