This a free forum and everyone has the right to post almost anything, regardless of what country you live in. However nobody is free from criticism for what they post. Seems when there posts that are negative about a country, it is Canadians, Brits, and Australians (all important allies on on the world wide stage) doing the criticizing of Americans. It always comes down to the fact that we are too free, and not socialized enough. Sorry, MOST of us would like to stay that way. We declared independence in 1776 and we aren't going back.

Some Canadians have been a little blunt but I would have thought that would be like brothers having a swing at each other. As for Australians why you could probably even invade us and we would ask you to stay for Dinner.

I haven't read every post here, but I've read most, and I don't see much animosity at all from outside the US. (Well at least not from outside North America).

To fully appreciate the animosity you will have to look at all the gun related threads for some time back and animosity whether it is one sided or mutual is just sad. I try not to show it, but I am really getting tired of people from other countries telling those of us who live in the US essentially well I'm from ______ and we don't have violence etc. like you do, if only you would _____ you too could be just like us. I posted what I thought was a good post from OldMcDonald who is a resident of another country and who has lived in several. I can re-post if it helps, he said it better than I ever could.

i respect most if not all of your posts. I agree that just because we are from separate countries does not mean we can't get along. i don't mean to tell you or anyone else how to run your own country. Just stating an opinion. Being told I should have no opinion bc I'm Canadian, well I swung back at someone that post 7.xx time a day for 3 months. I guess if he throws enough poop at the wall some will stick. Most members here don't tell each other to buzz off.

I don't say to do things like me or Canada, we are not perfect and I hope we don't proclaim to be.

Back to the gun issue is their a good reason for a 30 round clip? just asking, is that some thing hunter or farms would let go?

BTW, yes your counts high enough to answer!

I believe you may well have walked into one of those cumulative effect things. I come home after the kids have set the cat on fire, commode has stopped up, TV quit working and the dog died. I ask what is for supper and get my hind end handed to me; didn't understand what I did wrong.

If you are speaking of dgoyette, he certainly doesn't need me to defend him, he and I have agreed and disagreed, but I find his posts overall pretty good and we all have different posting habits. I don't know if it is is true, but I have heard some people actually have to work for a living and then there are those who just come and go. If you look at any older posts you will see some who posted for a while and then just quit. No, I don't support telling someone to buzz off, but I can't deny the temptation to do so myself on an occasion or two; and I would be wrong.

As to the high capacity magazines, others have addressed this time and time again and I see someone has done so again. Do I personally "need" them, no not really, but I like to shoot them. I have posted elsewhere I now have trouble even holding a rifle anymore, but enjoy propping one over the dash of my Rhino or a shooting bench and spending some time shooting with my sons.

I personally prefer handguns, but there are threads on here with plenty of people telling me I don't really "need" them either.

I cannot say mass killings would not be cut down or eliminated "if" all semi-autos were eliminated, but I can say with certainty that this simply will not and cannot happen in the United States if for no other reason than logistics and history. Nationwide gun registration would be needed and if Canada cannot even do this with long guns, there is no way it will happen here. I know a LOT of gun owners and I doubt any of them will comply and I don't think they are unique and interestingly enough, many if not most of the people I know are or were in law enforcement.

I believe as is so often the case emotions rather than reason are driving the "we have to do something". We did this in 1968 and it was such a mess the FOPA had to be passed in 1987. We also got the AWB in 1994 and let it sunset as it had no effect.

Are you seriously surprised that the "foreigners" on this forum who might post an occasional critical comment are from Canada or Australia? You thought perhaps that the Hordes from Mongolia, Serbia or Nigeria were more likely to frequent TBN? I understand that many on TBN have not spent much time outside the continental USA except perhaps on overseas military bases. To worry about the Canucks, Aussies and Brits however is like worrying about your brother being critical. Believe me there are more strident and one sided critics out there.

Gun owner to Congress: 'I am not your servant'

Anyone seen this?

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government's right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma'am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston

Actually, I haven't seen too many threads criticizing foreigners or their governments except for when those foreigners post or respond in threads like this.
In fact, I cannot recall any threads criticising foreign countries as a main topic...

"Senator Dianne Feinstein,

Unless he is a Supreme Court judge, I'd say what he thinks is irrelevant. If such a law is passed and upheld he must comply. I rather doubt he'll still be in the Marine Corps otherwise. Servicemen are not exempt from laws of the land.

The rest of his letter is rhetorical.

I expect there will be many people (millions, perhaps) that share this American's stance...I surely do!

Nor does this thread focus on that. The "foreigners" are not saying anything that several pro gun control Amuricans haven't already said. The xenophobia here is pretty amusing. I guess that's one way to dodge the issues.

Which brings up a point...what country are you from?
