island tractor , you know most of your reply's has been and in the past have mostly been negative to the majority of the conversations on a verity of topics. Why does it seem no matter what anyone talks about you always have a arrogant answer? Are you really a citizen of the United States?
DevilDog

DevilDog, I am not only a citizen but born in Boston to parents discharged honorably from the US Navy after WWII and I have four siblings who served (2 Navy, 1AF, 1 Army). My family lived next to a major Marine base for many years. I do disagree frequently with the political views of the average TBN member. That shouldn't call my nationality or patriotism into question however and it is a little disturbing to think that some of you believe that. The typical TBN user is considerably to the right of the majority of the US population. Most of you couldn't even stand Mitt Romney because he wasn't far enough to the right/Tea Party/libertarian side of the Republican Party. The typical TBN users is a rural white male and that group represents a declining proportion of our population. Instead of being shocked by my ideas, you just might want to take a step back and think about the fact that it is the majority of TBN members who are out of step with the majority of Americans these days.

You're not only confused...you're delusional...obviously you are referring to the electorate when say "majority" (of Americans) which is not the same...the biggest reason a majority of the electorate is out of step from where they were 4 years ago is now they are living off the government teat and they seem to prefer it...!

Some people...especially military men, value the Constitution and Bill of Rights more then themselves...

This is trueer than true....
I get short and cop a huge attitude with those that pervert the constitution with opinions not supported by the writings of the founding fathers..
There are HUGE references to look at....

Ok all, new page, can we please talk about what the OP's original thread was about and maybe how or what we can do to make sure that it doesn't happen here? There are many true believers in our 2nd Amendment as it is now and for what we believe it stands for. So what is the game plan to keep it intact the way is has been through the test of time it has endured.Has anyone viewed the video from Australia to actually see first hand what the people there are now saying?

The majority of the electorate living off the government teat includes all military, all social security retirees, all Medicare recipients, all farmers and businesses and unemployed receiving federal support. Yep, a whole bunch of Americans fit into that category.

You paint with a pretty wide brush.
So objectively speaking, you suggest that going along with whatever the majority thinks is the best way to go? (so we won't be out of step) Seems like that is sheep mentality. Don't you feel that people should stand for something? Or just go along with whatever is 'popular' at the moment. Perhaps that is what you practice in RI. Don't even bother posting a reply, because i am done with this thread.

There are two issues. One is whether to pass a law requiring registration of certain weapons. Anyone is entitled to their opinion on that. The other issue is whether you would comply with the law of the land if such a law is passed. You don't have the right to opt out in that case. Civil disobedience is a well established way to resist the law but it has consequences. For a civilian I imagine the penalties would be fines and perhaps confiscation. For a member of the Armed Forces, sworn to protect the laws of the USA, the result would be catastrophic including dishonorable discharge. That would be sad. I can understand someone would be against such a law but if it gets through congress and is implemented nobody gets to excuse themselves without consequences.

I can assure you that the military will NEVER take guns away from their brothers and sisters and their father and mothers, Not to mention, their loved ones that are at home during their service. Ken Sweet

To the original question on stopping it from happening here. We all need to write and call our Representatives both at the State level and at the Federal. We need to have our voices heard, look to and support groups that oppose this and get the facts out there. If it goes beyond that and is implemented I see it getting ugly.
