For my ends I usually build a double H brace. The first post being 10-12" X 8' and the others being the same size as the line posts. Then I use one continuos brace wire, stating at the bottom of the end post going to the top of post closest to the rest of the fence. I use a double wrap of hi tensile in a double figure 8 pattern with a regular fence tightener for tension. As many as I've built I don't have a single picture to help describe what I'm talking about.

Wow... I understand what you are saying. That baby shouldn't move. I may try that myself.

Thanks.....

Looks like you have a cross brace in with #9 wire to tie the end/corners?

I don't know. Have you seen these? I like the idea of the post holder and I really like the ease of the hydraulic adjust. I just wonder how the cable will hold up.

No I haven't but that thing is a mile high! Mostly around here we see the Shaver and Worksaver drivers. I think that both have manual and hydralics adjustment options.

We use a Shaver. I've replaced the seal in the hydraulic cylinder once and the springs once. It's been used to build miles and miles of fence and is 10 tears old!

Some of the real fence builders here use a 4" auger bit on a skid steer and then tap the posts in with the bucket! Some don't even measure between posts, just drive up and start drilling! Most are within a foot of being spot on.

It does take some practice. You'd be surprised how much it takes some! Lol

Yes sir it does, especially with the old driver we have since the only adjustment is the little bit of tilt you can get from the top link. We built a post hold out of some 3 angle iron. We added a handle and use it to push the post in the right direction to keep it going straight. We drove some practice post until we got the hang of it.

All in all do you think a driver much better/easier than a post hole digger?

I learned old school from a master. You don't curve it. You put in a double brace to make a slight direction change. Your telephone pole posts will be good for about 30 yr. Use osage orange hand tamped w/ dirt. you should get almost all the dirt you took out of the hole back into it. 5steel posts to one wood. Good for 100 years. I learned from Hugh Dean Teegarden, Polo, MO. RIP Hugh Dean.

Man when I learned to tamp posts we'd have to dig another hole elsewhere to get enough dirt to tamp back in. Yeah, that much tamping = OVERKILL.

The idea is that you only have to do it once

Yes, it's just regular high tensile fence wire like you would buy to put up. It's ran from the top of each post to the bottom of the other with a little slack left in for twisting We used a regular electric fence post to twist the two pieces an tie the two post together.

Nice. You do have your act together. I would enjoy some more pictures of your fencing project. I'm sure others would too. Granted, I know you are very busy now.
