Why you should change your oil

now if the dash just had all that built in. had one info center.. have radio controls and all there.. could be all touch screen even.. if you wanted it.

grab a gauge and enlarge it with 2 fingers like on a smart phone.. move a gauge somewhere else.. don't have anything hard coded in place.. other than a few usable defaults to just get in and go and customize later. maybee have a few memory spots to save different gauge setups..e tc..

You can get a el cheapo of ebay. I got one and it did not work.

Then I was going to get This one. It looked like the best for the money but I never did buy one.

Here is a list of adapters.

i would think the psd's would have a real sender for the ECU to look at. The fuel injection on the PSD's uses oil in part of the process.. etc.

Different oil pressure. The HEUI system uses the HPOP to pressurize oil to pressures between 600 and 3000psi. It uses the IPR and ICP to regulate and monitor the pressure.

YeA that would be cool, but its not like trucks do not already cost to much, all we need is electronics that will last 10 years then tweak out. I mean these trucks today cost as much as a small starter home!!!

and I see my point completely sailed over your head.

think outside the box.

if you have no oil pressure.. which your oil pressure gauge should be telling you that you are having issues... then you will be having injection issues soon to.

say you have a leak and are loosing oil.. most machines I've seen start showing lower oil pressure and fluctuations when you get to the point where the pickup is having troubling getting oil from the sump. around that time you should be having injection issues as well. IE.. everything's related.

really? a 50K$ truck and you are complaining about a 500$ touch screen mod?

leave the chrome 4" tail pipe down elbow off and call it even.. :)

it may even be cheaper if you figure that you don't need all those gauge bodies in that dash cluster, and instead just need a screen interfaced to the 'new' ecu.// etc..

I neither own a truck worth over $3 grand nor have a smart phone. I wont pay for a 50k truck or for a phone that I cant use more than half the day.

I'm all for real gauges but make them an option so my wife isn't flippin out everytime the needle isn't in the "normal" range.

Builder was another poster with very valuable information and "real world" experience as a contractor with heavy equipment and not some weekend mechanic repeating the same stories of their neighbors.
As is typical around here though, he wasn't a Ford fan so he was blasted and put down at every chance until giving up and not posting in this area anymore...

I miss his information as well along with pics of that beautiful 4x4 dump truck. Just search his username and you'll see.

Thanks dmace for the reply that clears it up some. I'll just stay agnostic on brands as its how you treat them.

Personnally I think it would be another under used toy for me.

Check Engine Diagnostics * not something my OBDII reader can't do.
Real-time gauges *could be nice IF there are more gauges then I already have if the dash.
Fuel Efficiency and MPG * Already in the info center
Engine Sensors * Would neat, not sure how usefull though
Customizable Dashboard *cool factor
Real-time Dyno
Data Logging

The data logging might be real nice to help diagnostics if you logged good mile, so you could refer to them when you have real problems.

Thanks for the links tho. I think I'll leave this item on "it might be nice to have" list.

GPS Track Mapping
Skid Pad
