After that unusual snow and ice storm we had late in the fall (the one that left us without power for 77 hours) it's been an unusually uneventful winter. Looks like it's finally ready to hit again. Forecast is for rain (in January???) followed by rapidly dropping temperatures, 15-25 mph wind and 10"-12" of snow. So, we'll most likely end up with a generous coating of ice (it's already raining as I type this) on everything, complete with drifting, just to make the roads that much more treacherous for when the snow flies.
In response, I stayed home from work, as I have absolutely no desire to tempt fate with the 35 mile commute in this bit of nastiness. The tractor is fueled up, wood is cut, kerosene lamps are in place, shelves are well stocked, and I've just opened a new 25 lb bag of green coffee beans (gotta have your creature comforts, too), ready to roast on demand.
Bring it!
