Since this was such an impressive storm to you 4shorts, let me ask if you got any of the Great Maine- Quebec ice storm of the late 1990's? We were in Maine at the time and it was maybe two feet of snow-cone-looking ice that first started as just rain before it froze and then the ice stuck to the trees. Just between my house and town there must have been 3000 trees on the power lines. Power was out for nearly everyone and it stayed out for two weeks, or longer, for lots of people. The "snow" weighed a ton and it took me all day just to try--try-- to plow out around the house and barn. Parts of the storm were headed your way and I always wondered how far they made it. Did you get that storm?
I know exactly what your talking about. We've had many ice storms and it's been disastrous. Power lines down, Hydro poles cracked off everywhere. Steel hydro towers just bent over and a small power wire would be as big as ones fist. Combine that with wind and you don't stand a chance.
