Kubota BX1860
Looking for a cheap, used, practice (my 1st) 3ph scraper blade for my BX1860. Will only occasionally use mostly for dirt and gravel. I guess a 5' or 6' would work, but what should I look for and how much should I expect to pay? Budget is my main concern. Thanks.

Tractor Supply sells a 5' for about $250 new, so you might buy that or find a used one for $100 or so. i use one to clear snow with and other light duty uses with my mower.

I would stick wih a 5' blade as it will shove you around with a full blade of dirt or wet snow. Look on CL and in this instance a light weight blade will fill the bill. Used $150 or so depending on brand and condition.

I would go with a 5' blade on a BX. A 4' is not wide enough cut your tracks when you angle the blade and a 6' would be too much. Ray @ Woodstock Equipment has a Land Pride Rb0560 that was Kubota orange for $450. I am not a big fan of the TSC blades. I guess it would be so so on a BX but there are better blades out there. I just sold a blade this week I had for the BX and bought a new to me blade. Here is the link to my thread.

I saw your thread Roger, that's why I started this one. Again cost is my main hurdle. Do they go bad or reach a point they don't work anymore? Just want this one mainly for very light work. After I know what I'm doing maybe I'll upgrade.

Thanks Randall, been looking on CL and seen lots of used 5's for around $150. Most say they're good for tractors up to 60hp.
Mine's 18hp, would any 5' work?
My dealer told me that if I send a sale his way "he'd take care of me". My buddy just bought a brand new B3000 with fel,bh,cab w/heat & ac from them on my say so - didn't even shop anywhere else. I'm hopeing they can do me a good deal on a blade, or maybe even throw me an old, beat up one they use for rental. I suspect that may be too much to hope for though, but I guess I'll see. I'm giving my buddy a ride there Fri. to sign his paperwork and get his seat lesson. Guess I'll see what my surpise prize is then.

They don't go bad. The only thing that wears out on a blade is the cutting edge and if they are mainly used in dirt they last a long time. I think if you can hold out will pop up on craigslist. You may want to buy a Valley Trader, you may find one in it. You just need to be very careful when buying a used implement. Check it over very carefully. Make sure nothing is bent. On something like a blade make sure it will angle, sometimes they can be bent so they won't angle. Check the cutting edge for wear. Most blades have a reversible cutting edge so you can flip them and use the other side.

You can always cut it down if you find a cheap one. I've never done it, but a guy who bought my 84" TSC blade said he was going to do it. It all comes down to the right deal I guess. Happy hunting!
