Hello Everyone!

What was your #1 most enjoyable or successful project of 2012? What's your inspiration for 2013?

Please share photos if you have them! :jump:

My garden shed was a project that I was so glad to finally finish up

But my most enjoyable and most successful would have had to be my mantle project

I built the bottom stove stand, cut, shaped, stained, and hung the mantle from a tree on our property. I did all the stonework around the stove (with stone from places that are special to us). I look at it every morning and just enjoy it.
With these two projects out of the way I am going to be building a smokehouse (a dual one where I can cold smoke or hot smoke) and building my daughter a treehouse.
The smokehouse will be a fieldstone one that is near the shed and the treehouse will be like a log cabin. (if the treehouse works out I may make a few deer stands like it for me to hunt out of next fall).

With the tractor = moving a whole bunch of fill to bury our 1,000 gallon LP gas tank. It doesn't look impressive, but there are at least 75 tons of sand, probably that much stone (both from an abandoned volleyball court), 4 truckloads from an excavator friend and almost that much again from the "topsoil mine". The lower part of the property has a small stream and the topsoil seems bottomless. Trimmed a big part of the lower yard from nothing on one ned to nearly 18" on the other. The tank is roughly 3-1/2' in diameter and 16' long with at least a foot of cover.

For the tractor = building the cab.

Done OTT 2.jpg

For 2013 = Turning about an acre and a half into yard, and spending time hunting instead of working on projects

I love it! That mantle is fantastic...

Those both look and sound like a lot of work. Congrats on the accomplishments! Did you get some snow or cold weather to test the cab in?

P.S. It's funny that some love having projects to do, while others would rather kick back and hunt/relax, etc. I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about that.

Tore off and reshingled four roofs on my outbuildings -- 24x24, 18x20, 10x20 and 19x25. When I bought the place seven years ago pretty much every building needed a new roof, there were six other ones that we got to earlier (seven if you count the dog house). Now it's just the pump house and the wood shed to go and I'm ready to start over!

On the biggest roof I discovered the sheathing was rotted when I stepped through on the tear-off. I discovered the rafters were rotted when I went to take the sheathing off. I ended up replacing about 2/3's of the sheathing and roof framing.

Second place was replacing the oil pump in the tractor, it required splitting the tractor to get the oil pan off.

Third place was replacing the head gasket in the tractor.

Sorry to say not one project I had hoped to have completed in 2012 quite got there. Don't want to Jinx myself but some built in cabinets might be finished by the end of Feb...Here's to lucky 2013!

It is cold right now. I's been in the lower teens and twenties for several days here. It did afford an opportunity to make sure the heater worked - but we are SNOWLESS!

I love to tinker and usually have a few projects going. There should be a balance though. The last several months have been all work and no play.

Ummm....is that for your personal use, or are you starting a business? If that is for personal use...I salute you!! Friend, that borders on obsession!

Just curious, by chance do you have your own, micro-brewery, winery or distillery? :)

Very nice, looks like it would cook delicious pizza.
