Maine Trailer Registration

I saw in the news paper where other states are complaining to maine government about their lost revenues from trailer registration.Maine is supposed to address this issue.Didn't specify as of yey what they will do.I suspect it won't be good though

Arkansas is around $45 for a lifetime utility trailer plate.

You're not required to tag a utility trailer or a boat trailer in Kentucky but when you go out of state you are probably going to get pulled over.

Specifically you NY's. First of all don't shoot the messenger!!!!!!!!!! NY has made it illegal to register trailers in Maine. Unless you live in or operate Primarily out of Maine be ware. It stems from the lack of $ (go figure) that goes to DMV that is supposed to go back into road works etc..... Just like your driver's license it has to be changed over to your PRIMARY residence or place of operations. NOT looking to get anyone riled up more food for thought. I found this out as I was looking into a Maine reg myself...

Not that it would stop me but the law here in Indiana states that any vehicle, trailer, boat, airplane, ect. Even driver's must be licensed in our state if it spends more than 60 days in a calendar year.

This is a new law and I don't have my updates yet (imagine that). I have a call into a collegue of mine that has it. It falls under NYSVTL 401 I believe sec 25 specifically dealing with trailers but don't quote me. It talks about requiring registration to be in NY unless you are housed in or doing business in another state. this will get you started until I can put my hands on it and get you the "quote" from the books.

Apparently it falls under NYS VTL 250 where it is explained. The law is in NYSVTL 402.3. That's why I said don't quote me. I guess I need to call my uncle in Maine to see if I can borrow his trailer.?
