My Profile / About me Problems.

Seems like there's an imposter of me with their account named as "Edward S". I'm guessing just that someone that doesn't like me on here or something.

Also the only reason I found out is because when I go to "My Profile" it automatically links me to their profile. So I am pretty confused on that. So I can't change my profile picture or anything right now.

Yep, something is definitely messed up. The join date on your profile says 02-12-2013, yet the join date next to your post says Nov 2009.

Then, on my profile, it says I have a profile picture on then I don't have a picture when I post. So confusing

Edward you need to PM Muhammad the site owner. He is very responsive and would be very attentive if someone has actually hacked your profile.

Greetings Edward. It's may be a situation where two people have chosen the same name but the use of capital letters can separate you. Try you search and type exactly how you sign in. Lower and upper case.

Edward, just an observation. Your name shows in your post as "Edward. S" Notice the period after your first name. You reported an imposter as "Edward S" with no period after the first name. Try signing with both. One should work and one shouldn't. Also try "Edward. s" and "Edward s" without quotes notice the lowercase s used. There could be a possibility of four of you if registration is case sensitive.

Both show in the member list on page 38, but when you put your pointer over your User Name and look at the lower left corner of the screen it doesn't show the . , so it goes to the newbie.

So at least you didn't get hacked.

There is obviously a bug in the forum software. It doesn't recognize like names. For example there is another TheKid registered here. I use The kid. Space should not be allowed in a username. That would have forced me to use something different. It also would have forced the new user in this case to use another name. If spaces are going to be allowed, then the developers need to step up and add more comparison checking in their security to prevent this. The difference in passwords should have directed to the correct user. Then display the correct data. It does not. Now that we know it exist, we may see more of it until the bug it dealt with.

Depending how you search it will show both or each. There is a pecking order on how the names are listed. Allowing (.) (-) (space) must have revealed a bug in the software. It seems the (space) took over the (.) I tried to create a new account using those wildcards and the system kicked the name out everytime. The software may have been detecting my URL and prevented a duplicate accound. I do know that passwords are Case sensitive. -=tk=-

Notice in the URI that I added an extra period (between the d and the s)...

forums work using a database...the forum script connects to the database and runs a query...the issue seems to be with the query parameter syntax when it sees a single "." it returns the first (or last) entry...

Yep, and that database is usually powered by MySQL. It's not as powerful as Oracle, but it gets the job done.
