Hi,

First time posting and would appreciate insight on this package deal. I feel it is very good, but have been told the slip clutch will rust in a year or two and be no good, that using a sheer pin is the way to go. Also, what is the thoughts on this package overall.

Kubota L4600DT w/ R1 ag tires and fluid in the rear tires

Kubota quick attach loader w/ 72" bucket

Taylor Way 6' bushhog w/ slip clutch

Gatormade 18" trailer w/ 7000GVW rating

$24150 assuming a cash deal (cashier's check preferred)

Thanks,
Neil

I can't help on the price, but I use a slip clutch on all of our cutters and some have been around quite some time and that is absurd. You will need to adjust it and make sure it hasn't gotten a little rust and stuck it you store it outside, but when used properly, I have never had a problem. There is certainly noting wrong with a shear pin system and my brother uses them, but I use mine pretty hard and got tired of getting off and replacing them when I inevitably sheared them. There are some old threads on slip clutch v shear pin.

Is this a 4WD tractor and does it include fluid in the tires?

My brother-in-law has the L4400 equipped like yours and it has been a great tractor. I have the MX5100 HST and love it. Your deal seems to be fair. Good luck.

Get the slip clutch and service every spring.About 20 minutes.Nice tractor and seems like a fair price.

Should be a very good tractor.. one thing you should check though. If you think you'll ever use a box blade or rear blade or boom pole, etc and will need a smooth 3 point lift, ask the dealer to put one on the tractor and try lifting it in small increments. The L4600 has been noted to have a rough lifting 3 point, the same as the rest of the L series, and some of the MX's. Yours may be fine or you won't find it a problem, but it's driven some to trade in a very short time. Kubota can't seem to fix the problem, so don't let the dealer tell you they'll "fix it after you buy".

A slip clutch shouldn't be any problem. I take the shaft off mine for the winter so it doesn't rust too badly. In the spring, loosen the bolts and spin it a few times to clean the plates up and you're good to go. I usually take mine apart every couple years to clean it. A shear bolt IS maintenance-free, but you have to replace them when they break. Depending on your mowing conditions you might never have to replace one.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out!

Sean
