2014 Ford Transit to have 3.2 liter Diesel Powerstroke and Ecoboost

I have not seen a late model gm truck with a 4 link like a Suburban or Tahoe. I think the Trailblazer were a decent vehicle but I never liked how they looked from the back. The big muffler and the spare tire is visible.



I wonder with the promaster being FWD if we will see a FWD Ram 1500 in the future? These new vans will sure make nice delivery vehicles.

What on earth does the rear suspension have to do with GM trucks being junk as DP, and some others, continually say? The Tahoe, the Suburban and the general use pickups are amost identical...Good grief is this straw grasping or what?

I know tons of people with every brand and year of pickup imaginable and have never heard of 30+ dealer visits due to anything..Some of you have really, really bad luck and have "friends, relatives, former college roomates, in-laws and friends of friends, 'customers' and neighbors" with the worst luck I've ever seen in my entire life...Glad I live where I do and don't know any of those people or the "issues" might rub off..

This has entered the theatre of the absurd.

Yea, but it was really in a class above the Suburban. Yes, GM made some 3/4 tons and put some Diesels in them like my uncles beloved 1994? 6.5L injection pump eating pig.

Gets good MPG but is no Expedition with a V10 or better yet a PowerStroke.

There are a few 3/4 ton Suburbans out there. They also had a 3/4 ton Avalanche.

Why can't there be one thread talking about a new vehicle without someone bashing another brand. If I hate a certain vehicle I won't buy it, why would I care if someone else pays 10% over sticker has problems with it but thinks its the greatest ever. If they bought and they're happy who cares. This section is becoming a lot less fun to read.

Because GM's were being trashed while I was reading the thread...OK?...If there weren't some who take every opportunity to trash other brands,regardless of the thread subject, I wouldn't have said a word..Get it?

This thread could be about 1 7/8 vs 2" trailer balls and one of the posters would find a way to stuff a rant about how his co-pilots sister's cousin's sister-in-laws, husband's misteress boyfriends college roomates neighbor had a GM that failed at the task. Just stating the obvious at this point. Not buying it anymore. It's beyond stupid.

It is a Ford/ Peugot engine. It is a "Puma" engine. From what I found on wikipedia it is about 200hp.

The Puma is the 2.2 liter which we only get in Europe. It puts out 200hp in the Ford mondeo. then there is the 2.7 V6 diesel used in the higher end Fords, such as the Jaguar XK.
the 3.2 liter i cant figure, but its the first Ford inline 5 in Europe, and the cylinder displacement doesnt show any match with other engines. is it perhaps based on a US engine ?

They used to use the Sofim engine, built by Fiat group and used in the Iveco Daily.

About engine ratings, in the 2006 Sprinter the V6 did 184hp, in the Vito (minivan) it did 200hp and in the E-class saloon it did 242 or so hp. And on US soil it did 150hp in the Sprinter

Edit: the Mercedes Vito competes in Europe with the Fiat Ducato, and has this 3 liter 4 cylinder Sofim engine built by Iveco. The Fiat Ducato is now on US soil as RAM promaster.

Anyways i think they are overshooting themself if they badge the 4 ton GVW rated, front wheel drive unibody Promaster as 3500... Here in Europe we dont even compare them to a 5 ton GVW, RWD box framed Sprinter chassis, so let alone to a 3500 pickup truck... ???

The European Fiat Ducato is only around 7,700 GVWR and 3,100 lbs of payload vs the RAM Promaster at 9,350 GVWR /12,500 lb GCWR and 5,145 lbs of payload capacity which is certainly not "overshooting" a 3500 badge. I highly doubt the 8,550 lb GVWR van will be a 3500.

Still not as smooth as a 4 cylinder or efficient either...

I remember something from way back in mechanical engineering class that a 5-cylinder engine can be balanced better than a 4. Somehow, the 5 is a special case among odd numbers of cylinders.
