It was more of an apple tree HACKING. I inherited these trees on my property and it was obvious no one had pruned them in years. I'm hoping they survive, because I know as little about pruning trees as the previous owner apparently did.

Same here. Although I did get training on how to pick the trimmings up and haul them to the pile.
