I love the name (Phone Number) on your dumpster. There should be some porta potty companies with that number lol...

House is coming together real nice! love the photos almost makes me want to start building stuff again, then I look outside and see the rain/snow and cold & it changes my mind back!

Aw man...........no updates today. I figured we would have shots of wiring and plumbing at the rate they are getting this together.

Great thread Pete, I've been silently watching.

If you are still deciding on decking, I have had Trex for about 10 years. Large front porch, almost fully in shade ,and a back deck that is gets a lot of mid day summer sun. We are in a pretty wooded area. Have not had any trouble with mold, we pressure wash probably every couple years, just wash off with spray nozzle on hose once or twice a year. Love not having to worry about splinters for grand kids......

Great thread - enjoying reading. Appreiate you taking time to document and post, along with the actiities that go into building.

Day 55

Sorry guys. My Internet connection has been out since Friday and it doesn't look like it will be back until Thursday or Friday. Anyway, I'm at a place with a connection now and have a few pics from Yesterday.

The normal crew is about 4 guys. 2 guys came out Yesteday and worked on extending the roof line down from the garage over the walk to the front door.

They also worked a little on the inside getting the end walls ready for sheetrock.

They did make a mistake and framed an opening right in front of the fireplace. That all has to come back down. I told the builder, but he apparently didn't let the weekend crew know.

Pete,
Do you ever have strong winds or a tornado in that area?
There are some simple metal clips that go from the truss down to the inside of the wall top plate before the plasterboard goes on. Cost a few cents each.

What kind of siding are you going to use? Regardless, you may have or might want to put some temporary spacers on the screws between the back of your meter box and generator switch box before the conduit is run that is the thickness of the siding. Then when the siding is put on the screws can be removed and the siding can go behind the meter boxes. When the screws are put back in the conduit will still then be straight.

Have you thought about re-balancing the front view of the house since you are adding a wider garage door?
I played with the artist conception and have figured it out. The changes are on another computer, but I can send them the next time
I have it on, if you are interested?

If your going with vinyl siding they make siding blocks for behind your electric meter. Just nail them on like any other siding block, anchor the meter on and then when you side the siding goes into the siding blocks built in channel. Real easy and makes siding easier as well.
