Ford 8N having trouble starting -- many troubleshooting steps take -- suggestions?

Ahh, I didn't check it myself but the "mechanic" had a toolbox filled with carb parts for the 8n by part #, diagrams, and a tool for measuring this gap. So I didn't do it but I saw him do it. I think his measuring tool was a smidge thicker than 1/4" as listed on that page.

It would not hurt to double check it.

1/4" drill bit stem.. even a dull or broke one.. makes a great gauge..
