out here now, it is not sucking in paper at the exhaust. Suction at the carb air intake is very strong. Going to try the compression test now. Will post a video in a little bit.

Video showing it not sucking in paper at the muffler...

The compression test didn't quite go how I would have liked. My Buddy gave me 3 different tools and none of them fit very well. The middle 2 cylinders had a lot of 'blow by' because I could get the smallest tool seated very well. All cylinders blew air past the tool and felt just as strong to my ear/hand. 90 at 4, 60 at 3 and 2, and back to 90 at 1. Again, I attribute these low numbers to the tools and low clearance and NOT the cylinders themselves.

comp test is useless without a screw in adapter.. AND you have to do a dry and wet test for it to have any meaningfull data.

No offense.. but maybee a lil less work makin video's.. and a lil more hand time on the ole girl might help :)

I'm still thinking carb... unless you can demonstrate some sort of valve or compression issue. I just havn't seen a low comp engine sputter.... lean ones? yeah// sticky valves? makes a miss... could be confused with a sputter.. etc.

bad advance? I can see a acceleration bsed issue when throttling... etc

I like the videos. They are somewhat helpful. Now we know you have 2 good cylinders but we really don't know about the other 2. Where do you have the float sitting in the carb?

Thanks guys.

Soundguy -- I tried with the threaded compression tester but I just couldn't turn it into the threaded opening due to the length of the hose attached and the lack of room. Taking videos had nothing to do with the tester not working :)

94 -- thanks. I have never seen a bad cylinder so I don't know if one could "feel" a difference with air pressure or not but each cylinder was pushing out a lot of air and was very forceful. What do you mean by float sitting in the carb? Like how the arms of the float are bent or not bent to allow the float to move up and down?

Ahh, I didn't check it myself but the "mechanic" had a toolbox filled with carb parts for the 8n by part #, diagrams, and a tool for measuring this gap. So I didn't do it but I saw him do it. I think his measuring tool was a smidge thicker than 1/4" as listed on that page.
