Landscape rakes- are they all the same?

He doesn't have a front end loader.

ahhh....well, then....

I still think the landscape rake will be a huge disappointment for what I'm picturing the OP is trying to accomplish.

For giggles, here is a few pics of the RR and surrounding area we are attacking. Tried the landscape rake and it sucked. Maybe once most of the crap is up and burned, it would be better, but if there is a lot of material to be moved around, it's a pain.

And a word of warning...

Be careful driving tractor over limbs. We've busted off the hyd. filter and fitting when a log caught under tire and lifted up and jambed into filter. All hyd. fluid gone.

After that, we were being "more careful" and managed to rip a low pressure line to steering doing the same thing.

I agree, but I can't think of many other options.

The root grapple would still be the number one choice for this job, if he had a FEL. I have also tried the landscape rake, as well as ratchet rake, for cleaning up slash, and nothing even comes remotely close to the capability and effectiveness of a grapple.

Just hold up a minute... He's got a HD box blade. Tilted forward and down with the shanks lowered it'll do a reasonable job on the heavier roots and slash. It's sure plug up just startin' out - but, it'll do a much better job on the heavier material than the landscape rake.

After a few days with the box blade then roll in with the landscape rake to clean up the smaller branches, slash etc..

That said, he should really deal with the stumps and the big roots!! Those will raise h~ll with both the box blade and the rake! Might end up with equipment that looks like a modern art project...!
