Thanks for the update Mike. This Houston group's path for you sure is different than Austin's plan. I'm sure you feel more confident. I sent you an e-mail.

I know it's going to seem like a long 6 weeks, but hope that'll be the end of it.

Mike,

Sorry to hear about what you are going through and wish you all the best. I will be praying for you and your speedy recovery.

While everyone has their belief in what to eat to be healthy, and they can find sources to support what they want to hear, I'm not a fan of anything, or supporting anything. Having said that, I am eating paleo and enjoying it. My weight has been decreasing and my energy levels are up. I don't miss sweets or even have any cravings for sugar. We eat a lot of fruit, certain nuts and vegetables every day, along with meat. We don't eat anything processed or refined.

In my experience, the most problems people come across is when they self medicate or do something that their doctor didn't recommend. My dad went through surgery a few weeks ago. He was working on their house the next day. For him, it was a simple operation that took two tries to get it all out. They where successful and he has been following their treatment to the letter. He has had both knees replaces, and both eyes operated on. In every case, he does everything exactly like he is told to do it and in every case, they comment on how quickly he recovers. Seems that most people don't do this and it leads to other problems or it taking longer to heal. He is 77.

Brandi --- my son lives at 288S and hwy 6....straight shot up 288 to the medical center. Took us 25 minutes from getting in the car to walking in to the center. We drove from here to medical center in just over 2 hours last week, but my first appt tomorrow is in the a.m. and I don't want to fight early a.m. traffic from here so we are going down tonight. How it's all going to play out later we just don't know yet. Wife said she'll take off work however much she needs but we have our g'son that needs to stay in school here.
Eddie---sounds like your Dad is tough. Hope I can be as tough and heal as easily.

Mike, you'll be in our thoughts and prayers tomorrow and the coming weeks. When you are the "rock" that everyone depends on, it's hard to change to the person who is dependent. I say to just do it and get though it. You'll be much better with this behind you. Your friends are here when you need us.:)

Glad to hear your doctor/team has a plan and you are going with it. Will be praying for you, the family, and your doctors.

Speaking of Hwy6 and 288....

Way back in the '60s and '70's, my aunt and uncle moved from Almeda to Manvel. I used to stay with them in the summers as a kid. My mom would stop at the Pyburns grocery store on the old 288 if we needed something to take when we drove up from Victoria. Pyburns is where TxDon used to work as a youngun. :) I also remember going past the old sugar plant on hwy 59 in Sugarland (they have a huge skillet out front). Then turn on the old south main and take Hwy 6 to what is now FM 2234 (past the Gulf brand salt plant near post oak and 2234). There used to be a raceway on old 288 in Almeda. Man, that was a long time ago. Things have changed so much. Sorry for rambling or whatever they call it when you're typing. I would guess the 1 thing that hasn't changed is the mosquitoes. :)
