Garlic from China. What gives?

Their minced garlic is California sourced too.

Sean

Good to know.

I prefer straight off the clove, but might buy some of their minced to have. Is it dry or wet?

I grow garlic. Recently visited relatives in Toronto Ontario and was informed that the supermarkets have gone to China Garlic because the consumer shops by the dollar and not quality. This is the largest garlic I grew last year. I grow all hard neck varieties and unlike "supermarket" varieties I am still eating garlic in May. Sad for Ontario because they have one of the richest organic areas just North of the city, it literally stretches for miles.

This fixation on China products and their exploitative labor policies is why I will not darken Sam Walton Legacy establishments. Ole Sam is probably turning over in his grave over what his relatives and their public corporation have done to his business.

This garlic situation is a good example of why we need to support local producers. It may cost a bit more up front, but you aren't hollowing out your community economically on the back end. There is a cost to that.

That's a whopper garlic magicheater.

I'm not sure about garlic from china. I would be worried about what chemicals were in it. Do you want a little lead with your garlic?

That is quite a head of garlic. I have grown my own garlic in the past and maybe need to get back to doing it again.
All I ever used was supermarket garlic that i just planted in October. What is hard neck garlic?

When you plant garlic cloves upside-down, they come up in China. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.:D

That's good Jim I haven't heard that one, but I like it.

It's wet, comes in a big-*** jar for about $5. Been a while since we bought any, it lasts us forever and a day in the fridge. Not the strongest garlic you've ever tried, but not bad for everyday cooking..
