Do doves scare away other birds?

We have a real problem with doves in the yard. They attack my plants and trees and have become a general nuisance. My wife says they are scaring away the other birds but I wonder if that is gnerally true. Anyone know if doves scare away the songbirds and hummingbirds?

"Scare" away, no I have seen them eating peacefully with sparrows, cardinals, etc.
Animals will be animals though and they are bigger than the other bird at the feeder so yes they could bully them out of the feeder by mere size but I have never seen them aggressive like a blue jay or a mocking bird.

Doves are mostly ground feeding seed eaters, what plants or trees are they eating? Also are they the collared Eurasian's ? Real big almost pigeon sized, light colored almost white? They are a non native species that thrive around homes and urban areas, twice the size of a native mourning dove.

These are native doves and I'm just parroting what my wife tells me. She was convinced that they drove away some hummingbirds last year and chased other birds out of the birdbath.Tthey don't bother me

They are mighty fine grilled, wrapped in bacon with couple of sliced jalapeno peppers stuck in between the bacon and the breast.

I have never seen doves be aggressive to anything other than other dove?? Never seen them eat plants either? sure they are dove??

If anything the dove I have here are timid towards the other birds at the feeders. Like to see one try to catch a Hummingbird to harass it too!

I've never known doves to be agressive; in fact, they seem to be quite shy. Starlings, on the other hand...

We usually have the smaller birds early and the doves later in the afternoon or evening. And as dusty3030 said, the doves are always on the ground; never seen one up on the bird feeder, but the other birds scratch enough out that the doves have plenty on the ground.

Our Mourning Doves are one of the preferred prey of many of the hawks in our area. Never seen them be aggressive or do damage to anything. Regards, Mike
