Kubota MX5100
I cant decide between the MX4700 or MX5100. There is $1,000 difference between the two. Is 3-4 hp worth the money?

Thanks!

There is the 3 point telescoping lower links also to consider on the MX5100. They cost a lot if you have to buy them, and they are worth having. There is the Turbo on the MX5100, to consider.. some are pro turbo, some don't like them. I dunno, I have never owned one.

Without telescoping lower links and rigid stabilizers, loading implements onto the three point hitch can be a BEAR until you have quite a bit of hard won experience.

I would go for the MX5100 for these two three point hitch features were I new to tractors.

I could live without the complexity of a turbocharger.

Yeah, they are not that big of a deal on little tractors, still a convenience, but you can get by without them, but on tractors of this size, and the size of implements you will be putting on them.. they become more important.. Also the older you get, the more important they become.:D You can of course get one of several quick hitch adapters to fit on rigid links, to get around this also. But you will need to take into account PTO shaft lengths if you do this.

It turns out to be a personal preference thing, I chose the 4700HST,TLB for a dirt machine. If you are going to use the PTO for running implements the 5100 will be a little more HP. One other thing that Kubota does for a bone head option is the 4700 doesn't come with a right side fender handle- go figure that one. So stupid!!! when you turn your head to look backwards at your work you need that fender handle so I purchased one a week after I got the machine 42 bucks for that..
Go for the 5100 if its only a 1K, my difference was 1200 bucks
best regards!!

It would be worth the extra money to me and owning two tractors with turbos as well as several NA, I just don't see the complexity issues of a turbo as any big deal, now I did before I actually owned one; lesson learned.

The turbo would not be an issue for me. It will more than likely outlast the engine, maybe two engines. Now the hp is kinda pricey for a 3 or 4 hp gain but throw in telescoping lower link and I would spend the extra $ and get the bigger tractor.

I had the same choice. I went with the 5100 for the extra hp and the upgraded stabilizers and lift arms. You can get these on the 4700 if you ask for them and pay for them.

Someone posted the price of adding them and they were pretty darned expensive as I remember it; way more than one would think.

I would spend the extra $1000 for the extras. I think thats a deal:) and turbos just sound COOL:))
