Questions about gravel drive maintenance

/ Questions about gravel drive maintenance #11
I use a harley rake to maintain about 3/4 mile private road along a lake. Although rather pricey they do an amazing job on the gravel road. Grind out the pot holes and reset the gauge wheels to finish. I will do this about once a month until snow flies. We have been able to put off adding more stone to fill in the bad spots.

It's way cheaper for us to buy a little gravel now and then than to spring for a Harley Rake AND have to work the drive every month.

We'll prolly spend only about $40-50 bucks every year or two and about 15-20 hours spreading and regrading it with the tractor and boxblade each year.

Before we got the tractor and boxblade, it was all done by hand with an idiot stick unloading 2-3 tons at a time from our pickup bed and thus spreading on average about 10 tons each year to replace the gravel that got scraped off by the snow plow or otherwise spread into oblivion.
