L3400 3-point hitch adjustment

   / L3400 3-point hitch adjustment #211
I just talked a friend into looking at Kioti and Mahindra instead of a L3800 Gear and a backhoe... solely based on the three point hitch. Until, they start losing market share, nothing is likely to change.

I know this is an old post, but I have to comment. Why the 3 pt hitch concern when a backhoe is goin to be on there? Also my L3800DT gear is not jerky enough to worry about?

Forgive me for asking seemingly dumb questions; but I don't have a WSM on this unit. The linkage inside the case can be accessed under the seat? I guess there is a cover there that can be removed to get at the internal linkage? And also wondering where is a good resource for a WSM on the older tractors? My local yahoo says he can't get them for the older tractors anymore. Thanks.

Thanks Russ, I've got one on order now and am waiting for it.

Last year I did alot of box blading and toward the end of my last project the 3 pt started coming up a bit slowly...wondering if maybe I've blown out the seals on the lift cylinder. I ordered a WSM now and waiting for it before I tear into the 3 pt system.

No problem, glad I could help. Good luck with the 3 pt problem. Hope it is nothing too serious.

If it's anything like mine the whole top of the transmission case has to come off. My valve is bolted to the under-side of the top cover. It's not as bad as that sounds, most of the work is removing interference items, then when you can actually get at it there are 10 bolts/studs that hold the cover on.
It took me about 3 hours to get everything removed the first time, the next time goes a bit faster once you know what comes next. I suspect yours is made the same way, only on a smaller scale.

Did you order the paper manual or the CD version? Darn things aren't cheap.

Yep. Seat, control lever, fender brackets, shift lever, etc. Lots of other junk in the way before you can actually remove the ccover.

I got the paper one for about 80 bucks. I'm waiting for it now and you're not kidding...there is lot of "stuff" to get off before you can actually access the valve. While I'm waiting on my WSM, could you describe what it is that I can adjust on the valve? Is it the the set nut and locking nut on the actual valve where the linkage connects to? I saw a fair bit of thread left that I could either loosen or tighten on, but I wasn't about to mess with it til I had some specs in hand. Other thing is, I wonder if maybe I've blown out the o-rings on the cylinder...gonna check those in the morning. I just got it all apart and up on the work bench now.
Abe.

In post #16, the second picture shows a gold colored set screw with a lock nut at the top of the valve. That's the one I adjusted, the linkage isn't connected to it at all, it moves with the plate. Your's may be entirely different, I've not seen one from a B2400.
