welding fel hooks/corrosion protection

I am a happy owner of a BX25. Planning on welding hooks on fel. I thought of stitch welding 2" angle full length of fel behind rolled lip.I will use weld-thru primer before welding. Still concerned about corrosion behind angle after it is welded on. Thought about half moon drain holes on low portion to aid in moisture that will weep in. Would I be better off If I didn't go full length, say only 12" pieces, so I could get paint behind angle? Thanks for the input. Buggy.

Do you mean "Channel Iron""?? I don't think angle iron would be the right thing to use.
With shorter pieces you can wire brush & paint underneath.

Hi crash325, I was planning to use angle iron. Butt it right up to the back of the lip, and the down angle would be welded to the bucket.

I used 2"x3"x1/4" angle and ran it across the top. The 3" way went down and the 2" way capped the bucket. I put a chain hook on each end and one in the middle.

With the lift capacity of your BX, I don't think welding the whole length of the bucket is necessary. Just my :2cents:

Kennyd, my plan was to weld a 3" length every 6" or so. I too think full length weld would be overkill.
