I would say get an inexpensive set of deep impact sockets (thicker walls than normal) and take a grinder to them.

I once tried to bandsaw part of the handle off of a ratchet.
The blade did little more than scratch it.

Well, it kind of rhymes. Please let us know what kind of blade you used, if you have more success. Mine was probably bi-metal.

If you run out of convenient options, check out some estate sales. Virginia has lots of estate sales and rural ones usually include an incredible number of tools. I've seen entire sets of sockets - including some I think like those you need - sell for ridiculously low prices. A lot of us rural folks buy a tool for a specific purpose and keep it forever. You find some really rare and useful tools and parts.

I, too, am with Brad on this one. I try to make any special tools before buying. I often hit the pawn shops looking in the used tool bins. I buy an assortment of tools, for a few dollars, just to keep on hand. I then use them to make up any special tools. Working on aircraft engines, at times, you need specialty tools that may cost hundreds of dollars. I try to make then up if I can. An example, a special wrench to remove a 5/8" cylinder hold down nut going around an engine mount and you need 2, a left and a right. These nuts are on throught bolt. Cost about $250-300 each. Pawn shop cost, a few dollars in socket, extensions, etc. a little frabrication and some welding or brazing.

abbrasive blade will eat it fine... i've had to cut and chop tools for custom jobs before... etc. cheap tools are good when you need to cut or bend one..
