JD 750 scv

Mine has gone awry. Loader goes up by itself and does not remain in first position unless I push lever. JD does not sell the spool assembly and instead one has to buy the entire housing for $700 which includes the spools. Have checked the used market, Cessna/Eaton and even some Yanmar sites to no avail. The SCV is a Cessna 30832-30C. Have pulled the spool out and the alleged "cannot service spring-do not attempt to remove" fell onto the work bench. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Find a similar valve if you can't find the same 1. Cessna doesn't sell rebuild parts for what they made. Best bet is to find an equivalent part.

What is the purpose of the valve?

You may not be able to get replacement spools, but you probably can get springs, o-rings if it has them, etc.

How many spools.

Do you need float?

Do yo need detent?

It sounds like the spool is not centering, therefore allowing fluid to pass on to the cyl.

Can you make the lever center, and not have the cyl extend?

The scv controls the loader JJ. It is two spools. I took apart the spool and there is a small (1/4) wire ring that has broken . This little wire clip is holding up the entire repair and fits like an e-clip would except this clip is round. John Deere states that this is a non serviceable spool so this job went from $2 replace this wire ring to $700 because now they want you to not only buy the spools but these spools must come incased in a new housing as well. This little "clip" or ring retainer, holds the float valve spring mechanism. I do not need float but I do need the loader to not go up by itself as it is doing now. The lever has to be pushed in to make the boom go down as it will no longer center by itself and keep the loader still. It is a Cessna 30832 CAV that is no longer made and alleged to not be rebuild-able with another spool set.

Maybe you can make a new clip from part of a coil spring. Some hardware stores have selections of springs. You can just twist the coil with pliers to make it go straight around the spool instead of helically.
Doesn't sound like a huge problem to me.

Actually this sounds like a great idea. Whether or not it is a huge problem remains to be seen. My hands are not that finesseful. As a surgeon, I may have gone a week before I got sued.

I did call this place but they had nothing to help retain the original look of the tractor. JJ, you posed a pertinent question: "do I need float". I've use float about 3 times in 27 years. What is to stop me building the float spool as if its a lift spool? This way i wouldn't have to mess with the float spring and detent ball valve at all. I might have to get the same dust cap and a spacer but as long as the loader centers, I could easily go without float. Whada you think?
