I can remember when we went four wheeling looking for places like that.. My FJ 40 did have Lincoln Lockers front and rear, spring over axles and 38.5 tires. Also had a good winch on the front used frequently.
Still find myself wanting to push a little farther with tractors and mowers than I should at times. Same reason, can not wait for the ground to dry completely out.

Where's your ROPS?

Leaning against a white pine tree. Same place it has been since the day I owned the tractor 7 years or so ago. Hasnt moved an inch.

yea, it "never" looks muddy. I kid you not, this stuff is like modeling clay. Never dries out till late summer. walking and small mowers are fine on it. But a heavier tractor...and it ruts to crap. The area I got stuck used to be a 2' or so deep ditch, with slightly tapered sides. I didnt like the ditch and when I did the pond,I didnt want it to remain a deep ditch that wasnt passable with a mower. So I laid a 4" tile in the bottom and covered with some left-over dirt (if thats what you call this crap) about a week before this happened. It still had not dried out even with the week or so of NO rain.....
