Let me throw out a disclaimer. I become extremely confused very quickly when it comes to hydraulics and quick couplers. I have always thought why these things can't be a bit more universal for all tractors and attachments but I am sure there is a reason.

I recently installed a WR Long 3rd function valve on my tractor. I plumbed the lines to the FEL and installed the male and female quick couplers on the bracket attached to the cross support on the boom. Three days ago I picked up my new grapple. The grapple did not come with couplers that would work with my WR Long set up. I photographed my couplers and went to town. I went to three different hydraulic shops and tractor supply. No one had the couplers used by WR Long. They all told me based on my photo it appeared to be an uncommon shaped coupler. So I came home and got online and tried to order from WR Long but ended up having to order from Iowa Farm Supply. I have a nice new grapple on the tractor but I am reduced to making noises with my mouth and imagining the thumb going up and down until my additional couplers come in.

Since I have ordered a set of couplers I will wait a week until they get here. But for in the future could I have used any common 3/8" piped male female couplers on this or is there more you have to take into consideration?

I just don't know why WR Long would not use a more common coupler design.

Did you find out what QC WR Long supplied? Possibly Skid Steer Flat face? Pictures?

Here are the connectors that they list on their site, which one do you have?

27 - QCOUPSET.500 - Hydraulic Quick Connects #8 (looks like perhaps 1/2" AG/Pioneer couplers):

There are lots of look a-likes out there, and just by looking, you can't tell if they fit.

Best way is to take in the half you have and match.

You can use the QD interchange chart also.

I got the same #6 couplers from Baileys for about $15 per set

The couplers are the standard #6 Pioneer Style couplers that are used on the DO3 valve kit. The #8 Pioneer Style couplers are used on the DO5 valve kits. Here is a photo of the coupler set http://www.wrlonginc.com/Spare Parts Photos/QCOUPSET.376.JPG. It's on the W. R. Long Spare Part Page. Spare Parts

Thanks Nelson , I assume you are Nelson from WR Long. I did find the set on your website but I did not think I could order them direct from wr long. How come you guys do not include a 2nd set along with the kits. I ask for a pioneer #6 at a couple of hydro shops and they acted as though they did not know what that was. No big deal I will just wait another few days.

Yes I'm at W R Long. We do not sell direct, however I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. We do include a set of quick connects between the tractor and loader with the valve kit (one set on valve and one set on hoses). We have an option of hydraulic quick connects between the loader and attachment and you can also get a bulk head plate. Some dealer order it differently from us.

I'm not sure why they did not have that fitting. I know when I go to the store looking for a fitting I try and take the mating fitting if I can so they can match it up even if I do not know what the type or thread pitch is.
