PT-422 Hydraulics not working

JJ, Is there a way to know if the one you found on Surplus Center will work. Looks like the right set up. I don't have too much information on the existing one other than it is made by Sterling Hydraulics.

This valve is another option and will do the same job, maybe better. It is similar to the valve on my 1445 for the PTO circuit.

Surplus Center - 3/8 NPT HYD FLOW CONTROL VALVE W/RELIEF RDRS137-08

It will provide variable speed from 0 to max rpm, using the 8 GPM pump flow.

In the 0 rpm mode, all the pump flow goes to tank.

There is also a relief valve, that is set at 1500 psi, but is adjustable to about 3000 psi.

The last valve I posted is not a solenoid valve, but does control the flow to the PTO.

It is a variable speed valve.

If you want to use that valve, you have an input hose and output hose and a PTO supply hose.

You have the inlet /input.

You have control port which goes to the PTO QD.

You have the excess port which will pass any fluid not used to tank.

At one end of the lever travel, you have 0 rpm, or off.

As you move the lever, you cause a certain amount of fluid to flow, and at full lever operation, you are flowing the full GPM from the pump.

The return hose from hyd motor should go to tank.

The directions that come with the valve should be clear and concise.

Did you try and fix your solenoid valve with a new solenoid?

Does anyone know what this is? The wire coming off the solenoid is attached to it, I think.

I took the solenoid off the valve. The ground was somewhat attached, the other wire was broken off flush to the base. I have some pictures. Do you think it can be salvaged?

couldn't hurt to chisel out some of the epoxy or resin whatever it is and see if you can get enough to solder a wire onto.

I think that this looks to me like a 12V Sterling Hydraulics Puissant series solenoid type PL or PLE. (The LEs have a built in diode and a red and a black wire. The L series have two black wires. I can't tell from your photos what the ID is, but you may need the ID to match the solenoid.

I don't know if you can substitute this solenoid coil, or this valve.

Based on my soldering skills, if it were me, I would replace it, rather than trying to repair it. I haven't had great luck soldering close to coils.

Thanks for the info Peter. I went earlier this morning to a Parker Hydraulics store in Delaware. I brought the solenoid with me. The employee couldn't help me at all. Told me I needed to goto a Sterling Truck dealership. I told him Parker bought Sterling Hydraulics and there has to be a way to cross reference. He just gave up.

I know one wire is black. My guess is the other wire is black too, because I don't see any loose red wires anywhere in the tub. The solenoid you found at Surplus Center, how can I find out if that will work with valve I have?
