Of course not! Texans don't talk funny! The rest of y'all do! :D

Farmgirl...one of my fellow vendors is from Texas. He and his wife come up every year in the ol' Holiday Rambler and spent the summer camping in Vermont! :)

when I sleep over at her house I had to sleep on the ( set-tee ):confused:

deepNdirt;

I think that is just an older term. A lot of things weren't said back then, and I think "love seat" might have been one of them. I remember one of my grandmothers wouldn't use the word "pregnant", but always said, "with child".

youse guys, for Y'all, etc/

Youse, :) I always associate that term with people in a nearby town.. Specifically those who live on the east side of the river and close to it. "Would youse like more coffee?"
But then again we dasn't make fun of them, that's the rough part of town, eh!

Well I'm having a good chuckle (at myself mostly) as I go though those maps. I do have to stop and comment that I can't believe that "runners" Or "running shoes" did not make the list for names to call athletic footwear.

I'm a yankee in GA. I'm pretty sure I talk very funny. :laughing:

For the rest of the country, I don't have much of an accent at all, I grew up mostly in upstate NY (Syracuse), but lived in VA for a couple of years when in middle school. I'm guessing I could read the news and most people across the country wouldn't know where I "was from".

But here in GA, even after 20 years...I definitely have an accent. "You're not from around here, are ya?" :D

I've been stationed all over the country, and all over the world for that matter.
Go 50 to 100 miles in any direction, and you're going to find people talking differently.
I end up adopting local speech patterns very quickly as a form of protective coloration.
And I always made it a point to take conversational language classes in any country I was assigned in that didn't speak English as a native language. (Although I was surprised as a young man fresh out of boot camp to discover that the English don't speak English as I was taught it - no educational substitute for real life experience!)
