Hi all,

I have a 2004 Woods GTC60 roto tiller that I believe has a broken shaft. My question is.....how do I get the shaft out of the housing that runs to the gear box? I have it disassembled but I can't figure out what to do next. Maybe I need to buy the shaft and housing with bearings all in one?

Thanks for any advice.

Dave

GTC60 Rotary Tiller
From this parts page, it looks like there is a snap ring that holds it in place. Click on the Gearbox section.
Hope this helps.:)

Thanks beckmurph but I already had removed the snap ring and that didn't let me take the shaft out. Any other suggestions?

If you look at the blowup of the parts, there is a shaft listed, but no shaft housing.
Are the shaft and housing considered one piece?:confused3:

I'm looking at the parts diagram and it looks like the bearings come off the shaft. Any idea how I can get the bearings off? Maybe that will give me a clue about the shaft and housing being all one unit or separate parts.

It looks like you need to support the housing, then knock the shaft out. Then remove the bearings on each end.

Use a block of wood, so you don't bugger up the end of the shaft.

I was able to get the shaft out of the housing and as I expected it was in 2 pieces. Surprised that a shaft that thick would break.IMG_1150.jpgIMG_1151.jpgIMG_1152.jpgIMG_1153.jpg
