Great looking tractor. I hope you have many enjoyable hours using. I have a couple of questions, is the mowing deck a ground contact unit or a hanging floating unit. The deck wheels on the front look like they need to be turned 180. Do the deck wheel rotate freely to prevent gouging when turning? They look to be stationary.

Well I got a chance to finish up mowing today. I'll try and give some answers to the questions asked.

Cut quality is good. I think its as good as the John Deere LT180 it replaced. I did have a couple instances of scalping, but I think it was unavoidable due to the crown of the yard on banks and such. My JD had a 48" deck versus the 60" on the LS.

The deck is a ground contact style. The front caster wheels do rotate fully. The back wheels are stationary. I did a lot of turning while mowing today, and did not notice any gouging from the caster wheels. It does turn really well, but it is substantially bigger than the JD. So it makes mowing around trees and stuff a little more of a challenge. I'm sure after a few more mowing's it will feel a little more natural. Just going to take a little getting used to.

One thing I did notice.....This thing is loud! Not so much the engine, but when you turn the deck on and spool it up it sounds like it ready for take off! Hearing protection is going to be a must. It does throw the grass though. With the guard off. If the guard is left on you could rake and bale the windrow. It had to go.

Well that's all for now. If anybody has any other questions, just let me know and I'll try and answer the best I can.

How do you like the treadle pedal for forward and reverse? Looks kinda strange, but it must be functional.

The treadle pedal did take some getting used to. It felt a little uncomfortable at first. but the more I used it the better it got. It takes a little time to find the correct spot to push on it. But once I found the sweet spot and some time went by, and there was some muscle memory involved. It actually wasn't to bad.

I think I still would prefer a two pedal system. But the treadle will work for me.

When my dealer was out he said that LS is going to change the J series to a two pedal system down the road. I thought he said in a couple years they hope to have the J series completely redesigned. Not sure, but that's what he said.

I have a treadle type pedal on my Bolens Iseki... Its GREAT for mowing with, and not even too bad for back blading, york raking etc. Not sure I would like something like it for 'field' work though. I could see it being semi handy for loader work too.

I'd rather have a 2 pedal anyday.
