diy power steering

i have a 600 ford , it doesn't have power steering, i am to cheep, and affraid to buy a power steering conversion kit, so i am thinking that a hydraulic steering set up might be my fix,i have also given a car rack& pinion set up some thought, has any one seenor done some thing like this?

if you have access to an orbital valve and a steering cyl and front pump you can go that way as well.

might be easier to buy one with ps and sell yours. ps became optionaly available in 1954.

ps. many times steering gets difficult due to sector backlash, lack of lube oil in box sump, bad thrust bearings and bad spindle bushings.

small fords have pretty easy steering when it is maintained.

i agree that buying one with p.s. would be easy, but that wouldn't be as much fun. i was happy with the steering till i put a fel on it , i have given the steering system a good look , and it is in amazingly good shape, i like to tinker, so im happy to do this mod, after some thought and looking, i can use a power steering rack.

Power Recirculating ball type steering box might be worth a look at.

power version of the manual box. it has a ring on it for the valving. needs pump and cyls..e tc... IE.. oe style setup.

unit uses a recirculating ball nut and wormshaft....
