The dealer called me just before delivery and said there was a problem with my deck. They contacted Deere and they're replacing my 72D because of a cracked weld on the small plate the tire rides off of......It happened when the service guy drove over it to connect it. The dealer let me use the deck till the new one comes in. I cant believe Deere is replacing the whole deck over this weld but I guess if one weld was bad then there's no telling what others were bad too. Here's a pic of the left side. The right one is also showing signs of cracking paint on the weld.

That's weird. My deck is a year older than yours and I don't have that plate. The 2 pulley guards Are steel on mine and they overhang a little for traction while driving over. weld broke because it looks to be something of fragile design. Ill go out and take a picture of mine after coffee

Must be something that just got added. Here's a photo of mine. Only 2 weeks old. Must be Deere thought it would help soften climbing up and back down...

You know Mike, It looks like Deere did a complete redesign of the gauge wheel mounts. While yours are straight on the deck, the new mounts appear to be angled out. Wonder if has something to do with allowing wider wheels/tires from now on? :confused3:

They put a new gearbox on mine before delivery. They said it was a little too noisy. I was surprised they just didn't leave it alone and hope it out lasted warranty.

For what you paid for it they darn well should replace it.
