I take my daughter and we pick what she likes, she also has two fairy garden flower pots she likes to plant things in. I try to steer her towards perennials.
We do have snap dragons, purple cone flowers, daisy's, right now purple lupins are up and the deer do not eat them.

My father sold greenhouse supplies for many years. I've unloaded and delivered thousands of bags of Pro-Mix, Vermiculite, Perlite, Peter's Soluble Plant Food, truck loads of Kord Pots, Jiffy, and XS Smith Greenhouses. Sometimes I miss that business, especially so many of the growers. I am learning more about the actual plants and how, when and what to plant together. So, I'll be watching this thread closely to see what I can pick up.

If I could recall all the plants/flowers we've killed over the years (mostly me), I'd be a semi-expert. Usually if something lives for 3 years, I'll get the name down. :laughing:

Do you offer depression counseling for your customers after the first frost of the fall? In our area, you'd have to have a watering system or spend all day watering, but when you have that much stuff all die after first frost, it is a real let-down.

When I was in my mid-40s, I decided to load my corner lot residence with flowers. I put in mult-level beds and loaded my yard with annuals. I won yard of the month and yard of the year for two years running before I finally decided annuals were a pain in the patootie to bed and grow each year. I replaced everything with perennials and flowering shrubs so I'd have some free time.

Alas they are only a summer annual but that's the name of the game.

By then most people are ready for a change anyhow...kids go back to school, its goodbye summer and time to put away your white shorts.

So when the weather changes so do the flowers. See come Fall and the leaves turn we have a huge selection of some the largest potted mums and at some of the best prices to be found. People constantly tell me this all the time!

And of course we have the apples too

Haha a guy came with his wife today and he had to buy her all new lily plants. She says "He killed them all!" I said did you mow them down or weedwack them? He then says "I sprayed them all with weedkiller...they had no flowers on them so I thought they were weeds"!
