Grapple Which type of grapple is best suited for...

The QA should be the same or compatible. The hydraulics either use an addition spool valve added to your 'Power Beyond' port, or a diverter valve (A/B valve) is added to your tilt. You select bucket tilt or grapple.

Thanks, is this modification expensive? and can the user (me) do it or does it have to go to the shop? I'm a pretty good mechanic but I steer clear of big heavy "kill me dead" stuff.......ex. I've never removed that FEL 'cause it's big and heavy and I might never get it back on.

The WR Long 3rd Function Hydraulic Kits that we offer are made specifically for your tractor/loader and come complete with hoses, 1/2" ag couplers and installation instructions. Most people that purchase the kits install the kits. If your loader has a universal quick attach hitch on it, putting on the grapple is a piece of cake.
Here is a video about the kit:

I watched the "wicked Grapple" video. Looks like a nice piece of gear. I have a Quick Disconnect FEL on my Kubota L-3010. I've never had it off...even when mowing on slopes (just keep it low) I DID remove the bucket from the arms once to get a hook welded on. HOW...does a grapple attach? (I presume with the same pins that attach my bucket) I have hyd cyclinders that raise the arms and cylinders that tilt the bucket. A grapple needs those PLUS cylinders to open close the jaws......WHERE does that hyd power come from and what lever/control is added to work it? The video did not address these issues.
Thanks, Rob

No it is not a Pin On Grapple. It is not specified on their Website, but you can see the SSQA mounting plate in the pictures of the Wicked Grapple.

FYI, this is a Skid Steer Quick Attach mounting plate

I finally got the North American Implements 48" LD grapple up and running and had sometime to use it a little this weekend. I have not seen anyone with these on here so I have posted some pics. The grapple along with the WR Long 3rd function valve works flawlessly and IMHO is the only way to go when purchasing a grapple. I measured the opening at 36". I know alot of you are "big mouth" fans and will not care for the meager 36" mouth on this unit. But to be honest for what I do around the house it is more than enough. I noted that these grapples definately feel a little different than having the bucket on the front. The weight difference on front takes some getting use to and having added counter weight in the rear is a big help. I can not imagine what a douple HD grapple would feel like on this tractor (DK40HST).

I hope the photos are enough for our resident engineers and grapple experts to look at and break down the pros and cons of the design. I think it is built very well and they were a very good company to deal with. Just a reminder NAI's normal LD grapple only comes with 5 lower tines. I requested two additional tines be added to mine which they gladly added for $20 a tine. The hinge pins have grease fittings which are probably not needed but nice to have. So far my only complaint is I wich the design allowed the mouth to close further so I could pinch down on single logs.

Yes, I'd say your NA Grapple is better built than my Wildcat which is produced just down the street from NA in Denton, NC.

I just re-read my last post and wanted to clarify when I wrote IMHO this is the only way to go I meant the 3 red function valve. I was not being a grapple snob claiming mine was better.

Looks like a very well made grapple. I like the proportion of the top width and the simple but very effective cylinder guard. I too would have opted for the extra lower tines. $20 each is a deal as the steel cost that much alone. I did note that the bottom tines are not evenly spaced and wonder why. It certainly was intentional as the welding and fitment appear excellent. I cannot see from the photos but presume there is some structure that prevented a uniform sevenish inch spacing.

I've not used a grapple with 36" opening. It certainly doesn't affect anything other than corralling big loose piles of brush. I would think the trade off gives the 36" opening style a bit more resistance to having the upper arm twist when under heavy load. However, I still don't quite understand exactly what it is about the geometry of upper arm shape, length, hinge height, cylinder size and position that determines max opening. My grapple looks basically the same but opens to 46". Where is Euclides when you need him?

I too have a WRLong diverter which works fine. As most of you know, I was just as happy using the rear remotes to control the grapple so feel that should still be considered by anyone who wants to save $$$ or doesn't mind taking his hand off the wheel to shift a four on the floor. I just like the simplicity of using rear remotes especially on a tractor like the DK which comes with a standard set and has a well positioned control lever. And, the cost of a diverter equals one extra implement. We all know that ladies are more impressed by the size of a guys implement collection than by a little button or rocker switch on top of his joystick.

That is a good looking Grapple. Do you happen to know how much it weighs? I looked on their website but couldn't find that information.

Some in action pics would be nice.
