Neighbor called the Law on me for shooting

The freedom of others can take the right of shooting a gun on your own property away. Been there done that. I'm OK with that. That is one of the reasons we moved far out in to the country. But when we live in the country and shooting is legal we may just have a few freedoms here also. Believe it or not.

I understand your feelings. That shooting is legal doesn't mean the noise isn't pollution though. Some of you need to take the gun chip off your shoulders.

I noise pollute, did a good bit of it today in fact. We all noise pollute. I do recognize it for what it is however, and understand it is not without costs.

I've got a ski area about 10 miles from here. In the winter the have a fireworks show every Thursday (since people always come on Thursday nights for the three day weekends) and Saturday nights. We can see and hear them from here. Even this far away I bet it's over 35db. Doesn't bother me a bit, kind of like watching the fireworks.

Why is it some people feel their right for you to not do something is superior to your right to do it??

The reason I have a "gun chip" on my shoulder is because I and every other gun owner are under constant attack from from the left trying to disarm us. You can put what ever spin you want on it, but that is the truth. Dave of course I take my neighbors rights into account before engaging in my activities. But when a neighbors desire for me not to shoot simply because they do not "approve" of shooting conflicts with my legal right to shoot at a reasonable time of day then that is "too bad". There are plenty of things that other people do that I don't "approve" of but I keep my nose out of their business and I expect them to keep their nose out of mine. And I stand by my previous statement 100% on the noise of activities that you do not approve of are so much more bothersome than activities that you do approve of.

Pretty much in agreement James.

Me too! I've yet to meet the man who was forced to own or to use a gun that didn't sign up to do so. Like picking your nose in church, it's voluntary but not all will approve.

If there were but two people on earth they would disagree on something or other, and there's more to good citizenship than just greasing squeaky wheels. Among our many freedoms, some feel free to force their will on others, while those of a 'live & let live' mentality will demonstrate tolerance without shoving it down anyone's throats.

It seems the complaining neighbor wants to exercise his right to judge others. In our egocentric society he's not alone, and we all do it to some extent. But, just how far beyond one's own property lines is it justified, and how often?

Maybe the grump just wants to sit quietly in his TV chair & bash the weatherman for getting it wrong again. :D

Seems that most of us that live in the "country" actually live is neighborhoods with the neighbors relatively close. Not really the country, just not incorporated. My neighbors, shoot sometimes, ride motorbikes, mow and saw, but not a lot, so we all get along pretty well. One thing though is the stupid street light one put up, but they haven't replaced the bulb after it burned out.
