ford 8n tractor runs great, then sputters and dies....

MY TRACTOR WOULD RUN ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND THEN DIE. WAIT TEN MINUTES, RUN GREAT FOR TWO MINUTES AND DIE AGAIN. REPLACED COIL, NO HELP. MADE SURE GAS CAP WAS NOT PLUGGED. IT ENDED UP BEING TRASH IN THE FUEL CONTROL, ABOVE THE GLASS SIGHT BOWL. TOOK THE ASSY OUT FROM BOTTOM OF TANK AND JUNK RAN OUT. THEN TOOK OUT NEEDLE VALVE, PLUG, FROM THE FUEL CONTROL ANDTHEN BLEW OUT WITH AIR. NOW IT RUNS GREAT AGAIN.

Got the trash out of the fuel control under the tank...the one that has the glass bowl attached to it. That did the trick. I thought it was the coil..i figured it would sputter constantly if it had
trash. Not run for two minutes and then die ? It makes sense too me now. Given time the fuel would drop in enough to run

yup. fuel bowl in carb holds some. gets you going.. then starves. wait a bit and enough trickles in for another go.

to save repalcing 30-40$ parts every time it quits.

at moment of death.. check spark. if it has spark.. look at fuel.

that's a good way to begin all 'won't run' diagnostics...
