Neighbor called the Law on me for shooting

The concept of noise pollution is a tough sell.
Well, Im laughing [sardonically] because actual low magnitude and duration of noise in the country is forgotten as soon as somebody, that doesnt want to, hears something. Then the control mode goes into gear while they endeavor to remain convincingly sane. The ability to discriminate that issue has been scrambled and all the while they get better at it.

Some of us moved to the country to be able to shoot our guns and pee off of the porch.

I feel like I've been called out, here. I don't shoot firearms due to the efficacy of my airguns, but I have done the other thing. Only at night. I am a p!ss-poor neighbor, I guess. :D

I have some neighbors who rent and without getting into specifics, their visitors and strap-hangers are not very... desirable. I believe they may even be doing some bidness on a walk-in basis. I still make an effort to get along, mowed their fire hazard of a property once or twice, smile and wave over the fence. I am lucky it's never gotten out of hand, although there has been a minor incident or two. Umm, local LEO is aware of the peculiarities.

I really feel for those who have worse situations because there is so little you can really do about it until it's an open and shut felony case, which means someone suffers some real damage. Not everyone is so lucky. It is a real hit on quality of life.

That caused me to do a unchristian thing. I went to the edge of my property and screamed " It's easter sunday!! Fxxxxing easter sunday!!! " The idiots stopped shooting. I think the best gun control would be a IQ test. Really, who the heck thinks it's a good idea to go shooting at 9 am on Easter Sunday? You really have to be very, very stupid. But yet they are allowed to own firearms. And breed.....
Why? Because it came to your attention and you preferred otherwise?

Loud pipes save lives..? All summer long I have to listen to the echoes of throttle-blipping morons clear across the valley. I like rainy days cuz the Harleys scatter for cover like roaches. But there's really nothing I can do about it aside from ensuring my own bikes are nice and quiet.
Good for you. Iv always wondered at the nervous wrists of motorcycle riders even tho I was one. I guess its a statement they have to make at stoplights and anywhere else. My group did most of its blipping while downgearing on the racetrack. That done on the road was for similar purpose into quiet pipes.

When I read threads like this I thank God I bought land where I did. We're surrounded by heavily wooded land for about a 1/2 mile or more in all directions with 30-100 ft. deep ravines on all sides. We're only about 1 mile from town but there's no way the land around me will ever be developed in my lifetime or my son's for that matter. When I hear neighbors shooting I love it. It keeps the towns people from wandering through the woods. The only time we see trespassers is during morel season. Some people are willing to risk their lives for a free mushroom!

 We are in the same position. Unfortunately, im afraid the freedoms that allow encroachment are on the wax against all like us.

I had the law called on me for shooting. The LEO said that it was unlawful for to fire a weapon within 100 yrds of a dwelling, including my own.

The neighbor who called had a Rottweiler that had been harrassing me and others, and for some reason, he decided that day to take up residence outside my patio, and forbid me to leave my own house.

I yelled to go, he just growled. I tossed some firecrackers his way, and I was astonished to see he didn't even move any of his paws, only the skin on his back jumped, like a fly had landed.

I gave it a few minutes, and when I tried to leave again, he was still there, so I grabbed my .22LR pistol, and fired some shots that would toss dirt on him, and he scrammed. The neighbors said I was trying to shoot their dog.

The LEO let me slide, but gave me a stern lecture about "you'd be better off shooting your neighbor, since people like dogs better than people." Also, "if I come back here again, you better be bloody if you have fired that weapon."

Violation of the leash laws and even the fact that one of their pit bulls actually bit me did not get me anywhere.

I eventually went after that Rotty with manual hedge trimmers, but unbeknownst to me, he was going after a female jogger, not me. She was so impressed that I "saved her" she said she and the rest of the neighbors would handle that little dog matter from now on, and I should no longer worry about it. They DID and I didn't!

Every time they get a new pit bull or Rotty, it disappears. I have nothing to do with that, so I figure the rest of the community is still being true to that pretty jogger's word.
I wonder how they are accomplishing that without you being under suspicion. ... or was that a euphemism?

Well, i was so worked up over this....the wife, myself and my 2 next door neighbors went out to test drive the new rifle range i just completed out in the back. Shot off about 40 rounds of .223 (ar15), half a dozen 30-06 and half a dozen 30-30 (just to sight them in) and about 500 rounds of .22LR just for fun.

Was a blast. Great fathers day fun.

Now its time to stoke up the BBQ for some shish-kabobs and corn on the cob

If you want to have a "blast" order some tannerite exploding targets. They are so much fun to shoot.

I've got a friend who makes his own. He orders the stuff on line, it's about 70% cheaper than tannerite. By using higher quality ingredients, it's easier to detonate. He made a five gallon bucket unit last year for our Independence Day shoot. We set it off at 500 yds with a .50bmg. Pretty impressive.

Sounds like you had a great time.. I mowed brush for about 4 hours in 90 degree heat and 90 percent humidity. I would have rather been at your range, and your BBQ.
