I had the law called on me for shooting. The LEO said that it was unlawful for to fire a weapon within 100 yrds of a dwelling, including my own.
The neighbor who called had a Rottweiler that had been harrassing me and others, and for some reason, he decided that day to take up residence outside my patio, and forbid me to leave my own house.
I yelled to go, he just growled. I tossed some firecrackers his way, and I was astonished to see he didn't even move any of his paws, only the skin on his back jumped, like a fly had landed.
I gave it a few minutes, and when I tried to leave again, he was still there, so I grabbed my .22LR pistol, and fired some shots that would toss dirt on him, and he scrammed. The neighbors said I was trying to shoot their dog.
The LEO let me slide, but gave me a stern lecture about "you'd be better off shooting your neighbor, since people like dogs better than people." Also, "if I come back here again, you better be bloody if you have fired that weapon."
Violation of the leash laws and even the fact that one of their pit bulls actually bit me did not get me anywhere.
I eventually went after that Rotty with manual hedge trimmers, but unbeknownst to me, he was going after a female jogger, not me. She was so impressed that I "saved her" she said she and the rest of the neighbors would handle that little dog matter from now on, and I should no longer worry about it. They DID and I didn't!
Every time they get a new pit bull or Rotty, it disappears. I have nothing to do with that, so I figure the rest of the community is still being true to that pretty jogger's word.
