You can always add sales of Rangers + F100 + F150 + F250 + F350 + F450....

One doesn't have to just look at sales figures for a single model.

In many senses, a F150 was just a light duty F350. It will be interesting if they actually start separating the two models.

I just read that the global ranger is 7/8 the size of a F-150. It would be pointless for it to be sold in the states. It also will not meet US crash regulations. They would have to redesign the whole truck.

If the new Ranger meets European safety standards, then it can't be too far away from US Standards, other than the required certifications. Unfortunately the US maintains their own bureaucratic approval system which complicates things for both car companies, as well as the "grey market".

What about the Ford Courier/Bantam which is also sold in other countries than the USA. I believe some even had a little Diesel engine.

Here is the link that says it won't meet US saftey regulations.

The courier/ bantam looks like a focus I photoshopped.

Perhaps similar body work to the Ford Focus, but they've been making production models of the Courier/Bantam in Brazil and South Africa, and perhaps elsewhere for decades.

There's also the Chevy Colorado... not for the USA.
Oh... perhaps it will actually be seen in Colorado someday.

The international version of the Colorado even has a small Diesel engine... will it make it here?

Plus, just like the Dakota its 7/8 the price of a full sized truck.

Back in 2001 I built a 4.0L V6 4x4 Ranger liadef with my dealer. There was ony $2000 difference between it and a comparable 5.4 V8 4x4 F150

It would be interesting to see what would happen if Toyota were to stop selling the Tacoma. Would all of the buyers migrate to the Tundra or other full sized trucks or to another small truck like the Frontier?

I drove a Ranger for several years. I had wanted something a little smaller, as it is easier to handle, park, and I thought it was better on gas.

MPG for the F150 varies depending on the model, but some models hit around: 17 mpg City; 19 mpg Combined; 23 mpg Highway, which would give my old Ranger a run for its money.

It has been a while since I've looked at new Rangers. In 2000, the bare bones model was hitting at just under $10K.
I'm seeing online that the 2011 Ranger was offered at around $13K (was it also offered for less as a "loss leader"?)
The 2013 F150 is hitting at around $23K or $24K.

That seems like a significant jump in prices. Was Ford having troubles pushing the price up beyond the $10K line?

Personally, I think there is still a niche for smaller, low-cost pickups. I don't think I'd drive anything bigger than a Ranger/S10 as a daily driver, but don't like the super-short beds in the smallest of pickups either.

I have seen some bare bones 2013 F-150's for $16, 000.
