I suggest getting clarification in writing from your insurance carrier as to exactly what's covered on the tractor. Mine covers anything on my tractor while it's on my property (fire, theft, lightening, injury, etc) within the limits of my home/property AND liability umbrella policies. When I'm using it for occasional non-reimbursed work off my property, it's also covered - I framed the query around tractor use at the hunt club I belong to and which has a half dozen "work days" a year. If anyone else uses my tractor while it's off property I have NO coverage. If I get paid for tractor work, NO coverage.

Most tractor dealers can tell you who has the best commercial coverage for tractors in your state - be prepared to pay quite a bit (see prior post).

I got a policy through State Farm in WV and it is basically full coverage for tractor and implements. Cost is $300 a year. My GF has a horse farm in Pa and they assured me that the tractor is covered while on her farm.

I've got mine covered through American Family. Coverage runs about $430/yr with $250 deductable. It's higher than some others have mentioned but covers me on and off property, includes, theft, damage to other property, collision, insured and uninsured motorist, and also covers commercial use.

Since I do some snow removal and commercial brushhogging on occasion and often travel on public roads at times I felt it was worth the extra money to make sure I was covered well regardless of use.

Prices seem to vary widely depending on region. I pay $109.00 per year through State Farm.

I think alot depends on the type of coverage. I could have gotten simple theft/damage for under $200 but would not have covered the additional items I listed.

Last February I lost my shop due to fire. It was a very expensive lesson in Insurance. I have Shelter Insurance. Didn't have a specific policy on my Kubota B2910 or JD455. My Personal Property coverage was Replacement value. It paid for my two tractors only because their primary use was to maintain the property. It would not have covered them if their use was agricultural. For that I would have had to cover them individually. I'm sure my coverage would not apply off property.

I replaced the Kubota with an L4400. I bought individual coverage on that tractor that includes hauling off property which I frequently do, sorry I don't know the specifics of my coverage and cost, talk to your agent. I left the JD2210 on the personal property coverage because it rarely if ever leaves my dwelling property.

I suggest to anyone, read your Insurance Policy from front to back. Hilight any issues you don't understand and then visit your agent.

An example would be that my Personal Property coverage had a cap of $500 on Motorized Vehicle Parts and Accessories. I had $15K of Jeep parts in my shop that I received $500 for.

Another issue is on Motorized Vehicle coverage. There's a cap of $5K on added accessories. I had a $40K Jeep that I got $24K for.

Read your policies, talk to your agent, nail down all details. Might save you the $40K loss that I suffered. :(

My problem is that in Florida I cannot find a company to cover the tractor off the property. I have tried some of the companies that have been suggested (state Farm, Farm bureau)but they will not cover them in FL.

That's odd..... How would a farmer cover his equipment if he had more than one tract of land?? Maybe talk to a local farmer that falls in that category?? Let us know what you find out. I know there are a lot of underinsured operators on this website.

I spoke to my homeowners insurance and they only cover up to $5000. Obviously that won't replace my 3032e and I have been having problems with theft latly so I need to get it covered ASAP. I haven't checked but I assume the John Deere insurance only pays off the balance of my loan if it's stolen

There's an excellent coverage plan from a Kubota-affiliated insurance agency (KTAC) that's not unreasonable and covers most non-commercial situations on-premises and off. Don't know if it's only for Kubota-brand equipment, but I wouldn't be surprised if other makes have a similar program also.
