Looks great. Nice to see some high quality framing. I especially like seeing the siding going on properly.

Thanks Eddie but this was about the messiest job site I have ever run. The work was great plumb and neat but the site kind of got out of hand as we were moving so fast on the framing.

Ok now we are on day four of framing and the roof truss are going up and more than half the plywood. Tell me Eddie do you use the zip plywood system out your way?

The crane started at 7:00 and finished at 12:00. The rate is $145.00 per hour plus travel time. Bud did the job for us for $400.00 it being my own house. That's my son, daughter and daughter in law with Jane getting their first look at the house being framed. The Children were great in keeping Jane's spirits up and on track. At this point she started to pack up all our stuff at the old house in hopes of making this a fast and easy move.

Great thread. We'll be starting our own next year, if all goes well. Glad to hear that there was a happy ending for your wife.

We're planning on using the Zip sheathing for our roof, the walls will be ICF. Have you been pleased with it so far?

We now use the zip system on 80% of all walls and roofs we do. Most contractors in the area like it.

Here we are on day five of the framing and the roof shingles go up and on. This took two days from start to finish.

I really like the zip system, especially that I can get it in lengths longer then 8ft. 9 is my favorite, but it's also nice to get even longer pieces. Best part is that there is no rush to cover it up with siding, so if it's exposed for awhile, you don't have to worry about it tearing or starting to leak like you do with house wrap.

I'm unsure if it's worth the extra cost over house wrap if you are on a fast moving job and you can get the walls covered quickly. House wrap is still a very good product and extremely cost effective.

Day seven and all the windows go in but the lower door and slider. The siding arrives I dig and pore the footings for the deck. That's the deck lumber on the ground and the trex decking.

I am amazed how fast this has gone already. Maybe you should have titled it Building a house in the woods in 89 days
