Grand L 3940 Cab

Well, I signed up today on the Grand L 3940 Cab. I pick it up tomorrow. They still need to load the tires and install the radio, rear work lights and quick attach system. I believe I've made a good choice, with your help. Thanks everyone for your critical input on this. I picked up a 6 ft heavy duty land pride cutter too. Can't wait to get to work with it! Thanks again for your outstanding input and help on this. I guess I need to change my profile now. :)

Congratulations on a fine choice! I think you're going to find it will work hard and give you reliable service. Apologies if my comment about HST's seemed to back you in a corner... that wasn't the intent at all. I've been reading messages here for more than ten years and HST's are generally quite reliable, those made by Kubota even more so. So it seemed really odd to read a message that seemed to be reaching a different conclusion. Glad your questions were clarified and apparently answered.

Absolutely no offense taken. Actually, I like to see people passionately defend a product. Its a great product and it certainly doesn't deserve bashing, which is not what I was doing of course. I bought one today, so I musta not been too worried! lol. Thanks again sir!

Congrats!!! fantastic choice. You won't regret the cab at all. I spent 2 hours brush hogging some thick stuff the other day. Two people were outside sweating in the humid air while fighting ticks, bugs and dust. I was sitting pretty in the air conditioned cab. With my allergies it REALLY helps. Open station is all fine and dandy and there may be some advantages. I describe it as not knowing what you have until its gone. As I was leaving the job I saw some brush I needed to push out of the way. Not seeing a limb which was cut and blocked by my cab lights it shattered my windshield. Well the last two days I have used the tractor and WOW is it loud. The cab really helps to keep the sound down so you can listen peacefully to your favorite music. I the winter plowing snow its almost not fair. Being toasty warm in a tshirt.

Again congrats!!! I can talk up cabs all day. The HST+ is a whole other exciting story. It's is essentially the infinity trans. It truly gives you great options.

I have a L3540 and it swings a 6' land pride brushhog with no problems at all. I use a 7' RFM. No problems. Good luck.

Man thats a bummer about the glass! I bet I end up doing something like that too! They talked me into buying the Kubota protection plan. I'm still not 100% sure I should have, but it does cover a lot. Besides the 250 dollar deductible it covers about anything that I could tear up. Its pricey but I bet they end up sorry they sold me that warranty...lol

Thats reassuring about the brushhog too, I figured it would handle it I was just worried that it wouldn't want to. If yours does it fine mine should to. Guess I'll be finding out this weekend!

I am a Kioti owner as you can see, and I love my DK35se, but I have enough objectivity to realize that the Kubota HST+ system is a advancement that sets Kubota apart from some of the other manufactures, Including Kioti. Would I love to have the HST+? You bet I would. Especially for the type of work and the terrain I deal with. I love and get along fine with the standard Hydro in my Kioti, but HST+ would just make some jobs easier and probably save on fuel too. As you can see from my post count, I am pretty regular here on this board, and I just cannot remember any real problems with the HST+ system. Oh sure there can be problems with anything, and especially if it is computer controlled, but I sure haven't remembered seeing any issues. Now if you want to talk about FEL lift capacity, per dollar? Now you are talking Kioti Dk40se..:) Good luck in your tractor hunt:thumbsup:

James I have always said the perfect tractor for me would be a hybrid, maybe a KiJoBota as all have features and strengths I like. As you know, I drove the standard HST for some time before trading in for an HST+ and I can't do anything with the HST+ I couldn't with the standard, but as you mentioned the HST+ just makes it a bit easier and saves a little fuel. I did not trade solely for the HST+, it was just an added benefit.

Congratulations on your new tractor, if you didn't specify bucket hooks, you might want to have them installed or if you know a welder they can be put on later, also consider a hydraulic top link if not TnT.

I use a Land Pride RCR2672 while it is not HD, it is pretty heavy and works best with my L5740 on hills keeping the FEL on, on flat ground it is OK without FEL.

As to the HST+, I was initially underwhelmed by its performance and it took me a bit of time to acclimate and fully appreciate it, so if it doesn't immediately meet you expectations don't get discouraged.

I was moving dirt into one of our shed a few days ago when I got swarmed by bumble bees, no problems, I just kept going cook, comfortable and sting free.:)

Bucket hooks are a huge help ... I also have a 2" receiver hitch for additional doo hickies

I didn't specify for hooks, so I'm going weld some on myself. Hopefully their parts dept has some orange paint.

So I got it home yesterday afternoon and couldn't resist getting out and brushhogging for a bit. You are right, a bit underwhelmed with its performance. When mowing up a hill or even turning sharply, with stall guard on, it nearly comes to a stop. Its going to take some getting used to for sure. I'm going to cut some more level ground today or tomorrow, I'm sure it will do better.

But, I love the tractor, and I'm sure, like you said, i'll get used to the HST+. But, if nothing changes, I still am very happy with my choice. Thanks!
